  1. Adams to Wolves was the rumour over the summer - probably been resuscitated after Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic both went out on loan. Matheus Cunha has just been nominated for EPL Player of the Month, so as long as Cunha stays fit Che would struggle for game time.
  2. Fabio Silva isn't a wide forward. He's a striker, albeit a very average one.
  3. Scotland 1-2 Czech Rep. England 2-0 Scotland Scotland 1-1 Croatia
  4. Disbelief and disappointment among Wolves fans about Barry Douglas being moved on. He wasn't player of the season (Neves was), but he was our regular left wing back in a 3-4-3. Never found wanting in defence, great stamina and contributed 14 assists, mainly from set pieces. Deserved a crack at the Prem, and even at £5m he'd be a cracking buy for Leeds if it goes through. No room for sentiment at Molineux nowadays...
  5. Nice wee article on Elliot Watt, who was included in Wolves' first team preseason trip to Switzerland and played in both matches. https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2018/07/14/interview-elliot-watt-hoping-to-make-wolves-impact/
  6. I get that, I'm just trying to work out if the group numbers (1-4) are simply "as drawn", or if the top seeds are allocated to the groups in order then the remaining pots drawn. Or something else. Anyway, basically we want to be drawn in group 1, so we'll end up in group 4...
  7. So are you saying that there will be no draw, and B1 will contain rankings 13, 17 and 21, B2 will contain 14, 18 and 22 and so on? If so, it's hugely advantageous to be 21st (B1 - nailed-on play off place) rather than 20th (B4 - much less certain). The Football Rankings site uses "pots" terminology, so I assumed it was a draw. Thanks for the info, btw!
  8. True but there will probably be one or two nonetheless, and we're far better at getting nightmare draws than we are at winning football matches. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is how the groups are ordered within each league. If it's just the luck of the draw then it seems bizarre that the teams in group B1 are almost certain to get a cascaded playoff place if they haven't qualified, but group B4 much less likely. Having said that, the UEFA description talks about global rankings: "If any winners are already qualified through the European Qualifiers, then their play-off position will be allocated to the next best ranked team of the league in question, taking into account the global ranking within the league, then if necessary to the following league in decreasing order taking into consideration the global ranking of the relevant league."
  9. It seems that the available place cascades down the groups and leagues until it finds the next unqualified team. That means we want the worst league draw possible, because if the team(s) above us go on to qualify through the normal process then we'll get a semi final place by default. Ahh default - the two sweetest words in the English language.
