  1. You obviously haven't skied in Scotland enough.I've skied all over Europe and Canada too and at its best, albeit it doesn't happen that often, Scotland is a match for anywhere.
  2. Well, winter is here again and that can mean only one thing. Snow. And the best thing about snow is being able to ski on it. The Lecht, Cairngorm and Glenshee are open for business today, so vast has been the snowfall in the last week. It'll take a few more dumps for the western areas to get a filling before they can open but great to see the ski areas opening now. Ye cannae beat a gey braw snaw on the the hills and gravity as yer pal. Boarders and Skiers, have a great winter on the snow.
  3. Nothing wrong with adding to the fuel of yer ain fire.
  4. I feel sorry for the state of politics in England with yon UKIP guy's comments. The pursuit of the LCD is scary.
  5. The greatest misrepresenation of the word 'comedian' ever. Comedians in a subtle way make you angry about society, that twat just makes you angry that society ever placed him as a comedian.
  6. Alan Johnson! There is nothing in Labour worth voting for now. Nothing.
  7. Melanie Phillips just unwittingly described Alec Salmond as the sort of principled politician we're all apparently lacking.
  8. I've never heard of the comedian Matt Forde but I'm willing to bet he's not funny.....
  9. Electrosynthpop magnificence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdcdFZ0irTk
  10. "I am not going to shout at or about the SNP" I wonder how long that vow will last...
  11. Might be too slow to get to the slopes You any plans for the snow yet? - PM me
  12. Because we're not all retired yet, we can't all simply saunter up to Aonach Mor for a day's skiing whenever the weather's good. Maybe folk want to maximise their remaining time to continue to enjoy their fun-packed adrenalin fuelled youth as it diminishes before their very, as yet unspectacled, eyes every day? As has been said on this thread already, there's no reason why the A9 can't be driven at 80-90mph quite safely when it's quiet. That is the bummer. Early morning, late evening fast routes are no more - during the day, it won't make much difference I don't think. But, an hour saved driving up the A9 is (was) an hour's more fun doing something better.
  13. Cheers, Davie, but it doesn't tell you how to avoid getting done
  14. There's no point considering the Dunblane to Perth bit - why they put average cams on that part of the A9 is the supposedly same reason they put them on the A77 going into Prestwick which is now at a 50mph limit. Comparing the two is daft. My understanding of it, and I'm happy for any info to correct me, is north of Dunkeld, all the cameras are linked via radio frequency and the distance between the cams therefore has a line of sight maximum distance. Over Drumochter or the Slochd summits, the cams are out of line of sight and therefore can't connect. So, if you're wanting to chance not getting done, stay around 61/62 average between cameras on the single carriageways and launch it as soon as you get to the duals. However, I won't be the first to try this until some further research has been done by others Overall, I don't think it'll make much difference in usual daytime traffic, as the fast drivers will still overtake where they can, but the old clear night's 75 mins from Sneckie to Perth is definitely a goner now
  15. Sounds like a regular Heb bar local had just had enough of that Graeme Pearson and chased him up the street for being shite.
  16. And now it's all down to Salmond http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29774086
  17. Make your own mind up: http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-angela-constance-msp/ http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-keith-brown-msp/ http://www.referendumtv.net/reftv-in-conversation-with-stewart-hosie-mp/ After 3 hours of political interviews, I went with alphabetical order. I like Keith. He's capable, reliable, does the job he's given and seems like a person rather than a politician. .
  18. Of all the TAMB posters' judgements during the referendum, yours were the most rational and proven to be correct. So, I take what you're saying about the GE results potentially offering little change - the pessimist in me says the SNP will do well to get 15 seats. I think that Labour will take a hit, how big that'll be remains to be seen but whether or not it'll relieve us of their 'big hitters' like Curran or Murphy deserves a bit more scrutiny. Take Curran's seat: Lab 20k SNP 8K the rest 4-5k Turnout 52% (~32k) Now I suspect that post-referendum with increased engagement in politics, you're talking a high 60s, possibly 70% turnout. That's an extra 6,000 votes and very few of them will be going to Labour, I'd suspect 80% of that will be SNP. If 30% of Curran's vote switch from Labour to SNP, which doesn't seem unreasonable, the wicked witch is on a tightrope. I can't see that extending to Murphy, unfortunately. Lab 26k Tory 16K Lib 5k SNP 5k 77% turnout (~61k) The only hope of getting rid of him is if everyone that voted Yes...votes Tory. Even with the most successful tactical voting campaign ever, that's not going to happen.
  19. What the is this pish? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-29570930 A stupid wee announcer of stuff masquerading as a journalist. I'm glad my licence fee is now going to the SNP. Oh look there's a sausage in the same shop as a banana. Haha. What's your favourite colour? Do you like fish? I like lots of inane things too, let's talk about them instead for a while... off BBC. I'm really annoyed at this moment, with this champagne swilling self-satisfying turd of an excuse of not even a reporter of news, but a face of it. Ego city. Derek Bateman, Lesley Riddoch, Colin Bell, there have been great incisive real journalists worthy of note on the BBC over the years, yet we get this utter pish of a vacuous nothing getting celebrated for 25 years of mundane inanity? GTF. Disgraceful self indulgence by the crew at Pacific Quay. Really pathetic.
  20. The last few episodes have been top notch. Alan Bissett was on live tonight and was brilliant. Much more available: Prof John Roberston (the guy that did the BBC bias study) Gerda Stevenson (the actress) Bruce Fummey (the Saintee stand up) All programmes are available here: http://www.referendumtv.net/category/referendum-tv-programmes/referendum-tv-in-conversation/ Watch and enjoy.
