  1. The term "conspiracy theory" is a pejorative that was devised as a strategy to undermine folk who questioned the official version of events. Most recent "conspiracy theories" are absolute bonkers, and were promoted (probably by CIA etc) for this purpose. Chemtrails, the re-emergence of Flat Earthism, 911 demolition stuff etc. They had to do this because there was too much heat being generated over Pan Am/Lockerbie and the original 911 stuff. Probably Diana too. Julian Assange isn't locked up for nothing. There is an information war out there, and truth was the first casualty.
  2. Plot the function X=1/Y on a graph, with (say) boundaries of 10 and -10 for the y value. And tell me what happens on the graph between 1 and -1. You can argue about the semantics of it, but as Y trends towards "zero" X trends towards "infinity". I will die on this hill... 😂
  3. Steelpeach sadly passed away as well. His emphesima finally caught up with him. For those who remember the name he was actually a bit of a celebrity in his adopted Italy. He had a successful "learn English" franchise with books and schools, and was regularly a punter on their football programs (usually when England or English teams were involved). And in the Italian version of the Cars cartoon/movie he did the voice over of one of the characters... John Sloan, a character, sadly missed.
  4. MathS Its arithmatic. And mathematics. You don't shorten hippopotamami to hippo. Its hippos.
  5. Just to set the record straight. Poor Reeky was never a Mod. And to be honest everyone should be really grateful for that. Can you imagine what this place would have been like? It was ScottieCTA that started that rumour. He might have been mad as a box of frogs but I loved the big man. He didn't know who the Mods were but obviously bought into what they were trying to do, and did his best to support them by sticking up for the mods, and undermining their biggest critic (Reeky) by convincing everyone that he was one... Well played Scottie, you big hairy half-canadian nutter. You are a legend, if you're still out there...
  6. One Neil Simpson. (Well, two clearly, cos he wasn't THAT Neil Simpson). Wonder where he is now. Haven't seen hide nor hair of Fishyraw for a long time...
  7. Were you bollocks. 🤔 Everyone knows Mod11 was Reeky Sporran.
  8. Now and again young man. Not as much as pre covid, but hoping to build back up again... Happy birthday by the way.
  9. You heard of ultra running? One of my nephews ran a marathon a day for fifty days last year, finishing with two back to back marathons on the fiftieth day. (Averaging about 4 hours 10 minutes). He just ran the North East 250 last month, setting the fastest known time at just under 66 hours. And his younger brother ran the North Coast 500 back in July, completing it in under six days. That was 19-20 hours a day on feet and 3-4 hours kip in the back of a hired van. It was actually Wilf fae Swindon that supported him on that madness...
  10. Oh aye, and its not "math", its "maths". FFS how do you cope with the screen jumping all over the place every time the board throws a new advert at you?
  11. And philosophically referencing calculus, with the numerator equal to one, as the denominator trends towards zero the answer trends towards infinity. 1/0.1 = 10. 1/0.01 = 100. 1/0.001= 1000 etc. Only a pedant would disagree that 1/0 wasn't equal to the mathematical concept of "infinity".
  12. At the risk of getting involved in a pointless argument I get the answer to be 1. The eleven square miles thing was an argument about an area of the Amazon jungle where a real live baby t-rex had been seen. I can't really remember the gist of the discussion, only that our favourite conspiracy theorist was arguing blind with me that an area 11 miles long and 11 miles wide was 11 square miles. Quite why we were arguing about the area of jungle rather than the veracity of the baby t-rex claims, I can't remember.
  13. I'd forgotten that! Immediate ban for registering two IDs! 😇
  14. Nobody is too ugly for FaceBook. But not so easy to hide who you are on there... 😉 Is Thplinth actually THE Reverend Campbell? They both appear to have strayed a considerable distance from the path, and in much the same direction... Also thinking about starting a thread for dead TAMBers. Just so I can remember all the ones I've forgotten. There's a pretty long list now - not including Balloch Thistle and Khraeigh. Does anyone remember Colonel's real name? I know it was Alan and he came from Dirleton. But for the life of me I can't remember his surname...
  15. "Sorry, you cannot add any more reactions today". Guess I'll need to come back tomorrow to like the other posts! 🤣 Hope these bloody annoying adverts and pop-ups are contributing to the board finances!! Can't believe there's so many old faces still here! Fair play for sticking around folks. Must be about 20 years since I first started posting on Scott Kelly and Ezzy's old message boards. Met a lot of good folks through here, was a huge part of my life for far too long. Not sure I'll be hanging around, but great to qualify again at long last. We've all changed too much since the last finals we were at...
  16. For anyone that remembers him we just found out that Steelpeach passed away in May. He'd turned into quite a celebrity in Italy with a successful language school and occasional football punditry on the telly. One thing I hated on here was RIP threads, and now first time back in years and I'm saying RIP to John Sloan. All the best mate, you were one of the good guffs. 😪
  17. First visit for a few years... Is there anybody left? Who's been delegated responsibility for switching off the lights? 😇
  18. 'kin spoiler alert ya bam! Some of us are still waiting for the DVDs to come out...
  19. Further to Calmac's post - nobody has ever talked about the "night of the long knives"... When was it? 2003? The TAMB is dead, long live the TAMB. Basically before the "takeover" Mirza was running the whole show, but didn't have time to be admin and moderator, the place had gone totally lawless, trolls and multiple IDs were everywhere. Probably not a lot different to how the board is now in terms of admin and moderation. But back then the board was a lot more "vital", there was no social media - just message boards and email lists. A cabal of people who believed the TAMB needed preserved were head hunted to do a complete relaunch. To build a new board from scratch, decide what the new rules were going to be, how to manage registrations, how to moderate the board, the forum structure... (Exactly what is needed now to be honest). Weeks of work, and hundreds of emails, went into that. And I don't think its possible to overstate how controversial this was at the time, how it felt like the gun powder plot - or worse! You could write a PHD thesis on what happened! One day the TAMB was bumbling along like a frontier town with no sheriff, then bam! The board was locked down and a link was launched to a new board. Everyone had to re-register from scratch. Every new member was vetted prior to approval, and most controversial of all the new team was anonymous. As anyone with "change management" experience could probably have told you, this way of relaunching the board created more than a few "issues"... Certain groups/posters thought they "owned" the board, and were acting like they did. They seriously threw their toys out of the pram. "Who are you to steal OUR board?" The politics of the whole thing was an utter minefield - and a nightmare. Truth is, nobody "owned" the board. And the relaunch ensured it remained independent. For the first few years the admin/mod team paid all the running costs themselves - cos they believed that was a price worth paying to preserve the independence of the board. To ensure anyone could join, and the board wouldn't be beholden to anybody. So someone told me anyway...
