  1. Tragic. Knew he was in hospital after suffering a seizure last week. Was hoping for the best possible outcome for Willie and his family. So sad.
  2. Cheers - yes it's been some season at Ochilview. You boys have gradually clawed your way back from oblivion, but still work to do in the final four weeks. That battle is going to be interesting for sure. As for 1-6, that was one of those days that football throws up occasionally. You boys were absolutely dynamite on that wild February Saturday.
  3. Thanks mate - it's really hit home just how awesome winning a league title is. Also fantastic to hear/see the well wishes from fans of other clubs.
  4. Cheers - such a great day finally getting over the line. I strongly agree with your final comment ๐Ÿ˜

    Rugby 7's

World Rugby approved it after the three unions proposed it to them. From looking back on some old reports from that time it seems it suited them perfectly as it meant they didn't need to relegate anyone from the 7s circuit that year since the Scottish, Welsh and English amalgamated into the British (yuk).
  7. Not too sure what this other match you are all chatting about here was but as my above reply to vanderark14 the main event this weekend was Stenhousmuir FC being crowned League Two Champions. It's been a fine season from the squad, highlighted by a 12 match winning streak which enabled us to meander our way to being confirmed as champs with four games to play. Full credit to Gary Naysmith, Brown Ferguson and the players along with everyone else at the club. The first league trophy in our 140 year history. Remarkable. Looking forward to next season in League One. I guess I'll let you get back to debating the big Premiership match now ๐Ÿ‘
  8. Just seen this, yes mate - it's been a long time coming! 140 years in real terms and we've been stumbling towards the tape since the end of January basically - draw after draw ha ha. Anyway, amazing feeling seeing it confirmed and the celebrations have been immense. Cheers!

    Rugby 7's

From what I remember it was a cost cutting measure to save the English, Welsh and Scottish unions money. Instead of each country having teams competing on the 7s circuit they amalgamated it to GB at the end of the 2022 season. Used to enjoy watching the 7s, haven't watched it since that happened.
  10. Maybe off topic a bit but with clubs cutting the allocation of tickets to away supporters of Celtic and Rangers surely now the argument that clubs require both to visit twice a season with a huge travelling support is dead in the water. Could this lead to reconstruction and could we finally have a proper top league where teams don't face each other four times a season? Just a thought...
  11. Morton v Hearts could be quite good tonight. Will be interesting to see if the Premiership side can avoid an upset. Looking forward to watching.
  12. Maybe this guy could do a job ๐Ÿ˜‚ https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68532385
  13. She is phenomenal. There was a post on X, formerly Twitter, which included her interview. All it said was close your eyes and this is Mickey Mouse discussing athletic achievements. That being said, I'd put up with it.
  14. Both penalties awarded in that match this afternoon were poor. The red card was justified though. It was a cowardly option from the Celtic player. Having directed the ball upwards off his chest he had to meet the challenge of the Hearts player by going to head it, instead he made a split second decision to raise his foot almost 6 feet off the ground. Can have no complaints. It spoiled the game from a neutral perspective. I know that lad Idah has been on the score sheet a few times for Celtic and granted today was the first time I'd seen him as I don't watch much Premiership but I thought he was absolutely honking. Imagine starting him over Kyogo.
  15. Varying opinions on the Rodgers thing. My standpoint is he didn't like being asked for extra detail on the first half showing. Jane Lewis was doing her job well though, trying to get the Celtic FC manager to inform the fans of the team why they struggled in the opening half - more journalists should ask questions like this to players/managers. While I don't think there is any need for a great deal of uproar - I don't think Rodgers is some wild sexist/misogynist - I do believe he could have conducted himself better during that interview, particularly with the way it ended. He came across as unprofessional in those moments. A quiet apology to Jane Lewis from Rodgers is all that's needed in my opinion. After all she will interview him countless more times going forward - it's nice to maintain a bit of professional respect.
  16. It was an attempt by Rodgers to belittle her for doing her job well. Would have been the same if he had said "good lad" to a male reporter with a similarly dismissive/sarcastic tone. In the moment Jane Lewis didn't seem too bothered as she was heard light-heartedly saying "and off he goes" or words to that effect before it went back to the studio, but perhaps that was just her being professional while the mic was switched on. If Rodgers, or any other manager wants to avoid tough questioning speak to club media only - they'll toss you soft questions all day and night. Hopefully he will find a way to apologise privately to her.
  17. It was indeed a wild scoreline - and an awful day at the office for my Stenny boys. For the last several weeks Stenny have been bang average - and maybe that is being kind. We are definitely going through a dodgy phase of the season, which all the supporters knew would come, but thankfully we have a handy 14/11 point lead (depending on what happens with games in hand of other teams) at the summit of League Two. As for yesterday, have to tip the hat to Clyde. They were excellent. They pressed well and just about everything came off for them in an attacking sense. We conceded a couple of poor goals from a defensive point of view, but a couple of the goals were also very well worked and taken by Clyde. If anything it should serve as a reminder to us that the league title isn't wrapped up just yet. League Two teams are all evenly matched this season, it really does come down to who plays well on the day. Yesterday's massive reversal against the league's bottom club proves that. I wonder what next Saturday will bring.
  18. Aye. Imagine logging on to listen to that pair of helmets give a coaching seminar.
  19. Beale sacked by Sunderland - now the holder of an unwanted record according to this report. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68340952
  20. Black Snow. Australian 6-parter that was on BBC Four last year. I finally got round to watching it having recorded it when it was on. Engaging cold-case murder mystery. Well acted. Really enjoyed it. I don't know if it would still be on iplayer for anyone interested but Google did suggest it is on Amazon Prime.
  21. Wonder what Warnock's weekly pay packet is for this?
  22. As far as I know the 10 wins in a row is a record outwith the big two in the SPFL era. Prior to that Gretna had some epic runs of wins while they were working their way up through the lower leagues back in the day. Having spent the previous Saturday afternoon (Dec 30) at NDP I understand what you are saying about the cold there ha ha. Enjoy the trip to Cappielow on Saturday.
  23. Good to hear you getting out and about and taking in some lower league fare while the Premiership is on its winter break mate. Clyde should really improve now that McCall can bring in the players he wants in this window. I'm pretty sure they will avoid finishing in the dreaded bottom spot in League Two. That could be a straight fight between Elgin City and the once reliably good Forfar Athletic, who have declined at a rapid rate over the past three seasons or so. Meanwhile, Stenny racked up their tenth win on the spin in the league on Saturday. The character in the squad is immense and again, although we weren't outstanding, we found a way to grind out the three points against the aforementioned Forfar. If we can beat second placed The Spartans away this coming Saturday I might just start dreaming of us winning our first league title in club history.
  24. I realise this is disrupting the obsession with the 3 clubs in the Scottish Premiership and the odd morbid fascination with a keeper scoring in Scotland's second flight, but I think it is worth mentioning the recent form of my club, Stenhousemuir, in Scottish League Two. Playing in a division that sees 8 out of the 10 clubs very evenly matched, Clyde (pre Jan 1) and Elgin, are pish so forget about them, Stenny won 9 out of 9 during the second quarter of fixtures. 9 out of 9. A 27 point clean sweep which has seen us open up an 11 point gap at the top of the table which will hopefully lead to a league title win. When was the last time a team won nine in a row against comparative competition during a league campaign? While nothing is being taken for granted in a highly competitive league, I hope that Stenny can use this run as a springboard to automatic promotion to League One. I must pay credit to Gary Naysmith, his coaching team and the Stenny squad of players who turn up and work hard every week. Every game in the division is tight (even at times against Clyde and Elgin) with not much between the teams - our attitude and commitment to defensive solidarity these last few months have shown what can be done when the work rate and quality of the players further up the pitch is rewarded. Mon the Warriors.
