Speed was coached by Barry Bennell - the Crewe coach who is being accused (having previously served time for it) of molesting young players. However, there has been no evidence he was one of his victims.

I would recommend you read journalist Danny Taylor who broke the story last week in Guardian - he is a superb journalist before this, but his standing after uncovering this scandal has increased further.

Its pretty clear this isn't going to start and end at Barry Bennell.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a Saville-type individual - ie, widely known and well respected - individual protected.

Fixed that.

Re the Bristow comments on this - Sky have said they will no longer be using him on their darts coverage

His views were a bit out of touch.

Although the context they've been put in by the media actually make them sound even worse.

"a bit out of touch"? They're disgusting. Attempting to shame the victims of child abuse is more than out of touch.

The media hasn't had to do anything to show Bristow up.

His tweet apologising for using the wrong word just made things worse.

Has he come out and said he was hacked yet?

Yeah. To be fair, using a homophobic slur to describe a paedophile is one of the things he should be apologising for.

Shocking comments from Bristow.

They ignore the fact that child abuse is all about power and control, and his comments will do nothing to help the thousands of men and women all over the country who have struggled with these terrible 'secrets' for years.

And comparing paedophilia with homosexuality is laughable ignorance.

Bristow is just demonstrating why these things were taboo for men for so long because his was the prevailing attitude. Men are only 'allowed' to be the perpetrators of sexual abuse in society's eyes never the victim.

I've seen it on here (from women) with the attitude that totally discounts the possibility that men are also as significantly (if not equally) the victim of rape as women (when for example prison rape is taken into account and underreported male rape which must be huge given twats like Bristow's old school attitude plus the abuse of boys which seems more common amongst the elite than girls reading the papers). This was the prevailing attitude in the 70's / 80's, thick macho boorish. "Why did you not kill him then" (insinuation that you are weak or a secret 'poof' who enjoyed it". It is worse than the short-skirt-she-invited-it stuff. Far more insidious and long lasting and here we are now in 2016 ...and it is men in need of a masculinist movement. All that church rape was against boys it seemed mostly. Takes ages for a man to get the courage to speak and so few do.

Just read Bristows comments, to be honest, I dont find them that surprising, but Im amazed he thought he could say them in public.

If it was an old codger down a pub, youd kinda expect it. Dont believe him for one minute when he says it was paedo not poof, if he does mean it however, then thats worse, he is practically associated all gay men with paedophiles.

He seems like a lovely bloke.
