It was your reasoning not mine.

He will be playing at no poorer level in a county that probably suits him better given his development - Plus probably more chance of a promotion to the first team there.

Harper probably just missed his maw.

Can't ask for a better start - wouldn't it be magic if the Malaga first team coach took a punt on bringing him into the main squad?

Got to bear in mind that Malagueno play at an absolute mickey mouse level. The way Spanish football breaks down means there are 360 teams at that level. Malagueno are generally one of the better ones and weren't miles away from getting into Segunda B last year, but they lost to the guys who lost to Gava (who did get promoted).. Gava play here:

It's.. umm.. well it's "professional football" but.. is it?

Yeah I know it's a crap level, but surely scoring freely will turn heads (surely that is the point of having that dev side) and at least draw attention.

Scored a hat-trick for Malaga B today. Think that's something like 8 goals in 8 games now?

He's probably playing at a level around English Non-league, Scottish league 1/2 though. But to be fair Malaga B seem to be a class above their opposition, 10 points ahead and a goal difference of +50.

Seems like there's opportunity to move up, a few of the guys around Harper's age moved played a decent amount for the B team moving to the full team.

Does seem promising.

so.. update:

http://www.malagahoy.es/malaga_cf/Jack-Harper-renueva-contrato_0_1129087404.html

He's scored 11 in 13 games, has only been there 5 months and they've extended his contract already.
The suggestion at the end of the article is that he may well step up to the first team next season.

Fingers crossed.

Him and Gauld both need first team football now or they unfortunately will be two of our most high profile never quite made it 'star' players ever...

We seem to have a bottomless pit of potential superstars that end up at teams like Dunfermline and Albion Rovers at their peak.

That's because in international terms they are not really potential superstars.  This has gone on for years....   our press are deluded and like a headline.   Remember Simon Donnelly was the new 'Kenny dalglish'...  Eoin jess a bit before that...  we have not produced any world class players since the 80s.

So basically done the square root of f all to get him close to a mention for the national team then!  Ach,  have heard it all before about our youth teams... there was the team in the 1989 youth world cup final...  the Toulon team think they were semi finals about 1996...  John fleck, mark burchill, etc... the list is endless.

Big difference this time is he hasn't even done it for our youth teams! But you never know....................

He was well thought of at Real, did well in the UEFA youth league with them (3 goals, 3 assist in 6 games) and they didn't want him to leave.

Bit of a misrepresentation to say he couldn't get in Brighton's reserves (u23s), he played 25 times, 17 starts.. tho yeah at the end it seems like he just wanted to get out. 'Failing' at one club, under one inexperienced coach is not really grounds to dismiss a players future.

Still I don't think anyone's saying 'wow'.. I've said before that he's playing in a mickey mouse league with no fans right now, but that there are now noises about him being moved up to the main team is good to hear.

It'll be harder to get into Malaga's side than into Brighton's, but it's his home town club and maybe the style of football suits him better than the rough and tumble of the Championship.

Darren Fletcher was world class in my opinion
