andyD
It feels fairly attacking, but we've actually not a lot of choice given our fullbacks. Gordon Anya - Martin - Berra - Tierney Brown - Armstrong Philips - Burke - Fraser Griffiths Would like to see what the attacking midfield 3 can do, and confident enough in Brown and Armstrong as a defensive 2 given their games against Man City, Barca and A German Team. There's an argument for Fletch up top as he is better at holding the ball up, and for Martin as he's the form striker at the moment, but I don't really feel like either actually offer enough of a goal threat up there on their own. Off the bench I'd like to see Tom Cairney get a run out in the central attacking mid position, Liam Palmer tried at right back for a while and Kevin McDonald for Brown for the last 20-30 mins. To save Brown's legs for the game that matters and give McDonald a bit more experience at this level.
wanderer
Given we have a qualifier a few days later, honestly do not think his squad will differ that much from his last one (except where no choice due to injury). Will probably (re)call up 2 or 3 players at the most, but its not going to be all that many (most likely likes of Ryan Frazer and Matt Phillips, but very unlikely to be the likes of Cairney and Palmer)

I guess we're had precedent of squads with a single fullback in, but with Hutton's retirement we need to blood someone.. we can't only rely on having Paterson. jailender
Does anybody really think Strachan will change much, given that we have a "must win" qualifier a few days later? Not a time to change too many faces.

Would probably go Berra

About 5 years after he should have. Been playing well for about that length of time. Of course get the "kids" in now he is closer to 30 than 21! Tartacus
How about trying Bridcutt as defensive midfielder? He rarely comes into the opposition half for Leeds but makes a lot of tackles and usually passes it well. Sitting Fletcher/Brown/Morrison/MacArthur etc deeper may be counter productive (do they fully commit to attacks?). I think it is vital we protect our chocolate defence but would a specialist be better rather than a good all rounder trying to play box to box. Could we get more in terms of goals from our other midfielders if they knew there was bespoke defensive midfielder behind them?

Personally I'd take Bridcutt and Kevin McDonald, with Brown and Armstrong. Fletcher is done. Morrison is playing a more atttacking role this season. Mulgrew's needed at the back. McArthur's not really impressed me for us and seems to be all over the place at club level lately (he was playing left wing as they got wrecked 4-0 by Sunderland). In the middle I want steady players who can get and keep the ball. McArthur and Fletcher have proven to not be that for a while now. Bridcutt and McDonald are 1st picks for teams with a decent shot at being in the playoffs, playing well and fit the bill for what you need from a defensive mid. daviebee
No matter who he picks for the Canada game you can be sure he'll insist we need the "tried and tested", i.e. the proven failures, for Slovenia.
jamboman
I remember Bridcutt almost being sent off within 5 mins of coming on in his last game. Armstrong needs to play in an advanced role, holding him back will only let us down. Brown should be the holding player along. Those 2 work well. I guess it really depends on the system we play. our midfield options are not bad. The most important thing is to PLAY PLAYERS IN THEIR POSITIONS!. Dont just play someone for the reason of playing them.
