Talking about old Scotland v England games at Hampden - any auld yin's like me also go to the games in 1987 & 1989, pretty feckin wild (particularly the '89 game) by far the worst crowd trouble i have witnessed. (just about every pub in Victoria Road & some in Shawlands where attacked) mental !!

Prior to the 1987 game England didn't bring many fans north of the border at all IIRC ?

Remember the pie stall (I think) in the old east stand getting "attacked" by England fans at half time. I was in West Stand and remember them all running up the terracing in a big wave.

What was that all about??

Also remember Viccy Road being a bit fiery afterwards

Big game hunters strike again.

They should be thanking the boycotters for the opportunity.

Yes of course. Managed to get 9 tickets. The boycotters have come to a good use. Cheers.

I remember walking up past where Asda is, towards the police station, and seeing hundreds of bottles being thrown back and forth. It was like a scene from 300.

And I clearly remember Scotland fans in the Celtic End throwing coins into the England end, and the policeman next to me, just a young guy, smirking to himself.

We were in the "Rangers end" in 1989 and I don't recall seeing any bother. My mate drove though, and those were the days when you could just bez into the Hampden car park for a couple of quid, so we were probably well out of the road of it.

i remember in 85 a pocket of English nutters set up camp at the front of the Celtic end, and after a series of skirmishes were escorted out by the polis. As they were marched out up the slope past the old stand, the pipe band were waiting there to come on at half time. A kilted piper booted one of them up the erse to huge cheers :-))

Were the England fans not in the Rangers end?

I was at the one where Steve Bull and Gascoigne played and they beat us 2-0. They were defibitely in the Celtic end, near the South Stand.

I was only about 17 at the time, so it's quite possible my right arm was strong enough to thrown a coin the full length of the pitch. ;-)

Anyone still waiting on tickets? I got one set from extra sale but not the ones I bought an hour later!

I had a problem with a longer than normally wait, called them to find out where they were and was told they "had been printed waiting for delivery".

Then they turned up the next day. Seems like someone had forgot to send them oot!

Brilliant

some unsavoury chanting at points when Viv Anderson has the ball

I assume by his own fans

It seemed like the whole stadium was monkey chanting John Barnes that day. Absolutely shocking, glad things have moved on since.
