giblet
thinking of extending a visit over in Ireland to take in some days over in the West coast. Any tips for towns to visit? taking my brood of unruly teeneagers.
Huddersfield
Galway City is usually a good shout for teenagers - shops, plenty of life, etc. Ailwee Cave is pretty cool as well & if they are into sport, try & get to a GAA event. Otherwise, it depends a bit what they are into & which bit of the coast you're aiming for. They might like the Aran Islands as well (where Father Ted is filmed); a nice boat trip out of Galway & you get driven around by horse & cart taxi with Gaelic-speaking drivers. If you have a Gaelic speaker with you, the conversation between the drivers becomes very dull, but otherwise, you can pretend that it's something really exciting or archaic. Newryrep
don't know if its still on iplayer ( was a few weeks ago ) but Wild Ireland - Edge of the world was a stunning nature documentary about the west coast though I don't quite remember that many sunny days - some of the beaches were Bermuda like ( albeit slightly cooler) Monty Halls Irish adventure still on covers Connemara etc Bord Failte probably went out and spent their UK budget in the pub the next day as they couldn't better it Wild Altlantic way has been heavily promoted , take a walk along salthill promenade and kick the wall at the end Go for a pint in Naugthons (Spelling ?) on the main street - none of that stag/hen bollicks allowed Kinvara - looked a nice wee quite spot for a stroll, also the sky road heading north from Galway
