Has come back to haunt the old team.  Lucky not to lose the game but not winning that in 90 min has really killed our hopes.

our hopes have been killed?

how?

qualification is entirely in our own hands. win 2 games and we make the playoffs.

at the start of the group, the playoffs was the realistic best case, so.. killed our hopes?

10 points from 12.. killed our hopes?

must be the full moon that caused this thread tbh.

Its showing where we fked up.  Win home games v minos and we d be fine.

Would we? Really?

We'd have 2 more points from the Lithuania game.. putting us on 16, with Slovakia on 15 still. Slovakia will beat Malta to go up to 18. We'd need to at least draw against them and to beat Solvenia to qualify.

How is that "we'd be fine"?

The word DRAW you used there.  Much better position.

a draw is still a bit ask, and you could even argue that needing the win gives us clarity of purpose. none of that indecision around "well a draw would be good enough" and so people end up playing for one, which is incredibly dangerous.

anyway.. life might be a tiny bit easier had we beaten lithuania at home, but ultimately a draw and a win in the last two is a pretty big ask. much like 2 wins is a big ask. so the idea that somehow that lithuania result is echoing thru our campaign and has killed our chances it frankly ridiculous.

Do you expect anything else from this buffoon?

Abysmal result considering how easy the away game was.

It did cost qualification aswell.

It's o.k bring up the England game but Scotland took 1/6 out of the two games v England. Slovakia took 0.

Scotland took 4 points off Slovenia, Slovakia took 3.

Both beat each other.

Slovakia took 6 points v Lithuania.

To me for a team to qualify you simply have to take 12 points off the pot 5 and 6 teams to qualify. It becomes too tricky otherwise.

We are out because we couldn’t hold on for a couple of minutes against the most over rated team on the planet at Hampden

Agreed. We didn`t deserve to beat Lithuania at Hampden in fact we were lucky to get a point but throwing away 2 points against England at Hampden (even if undeserved over 90 minutes) was avoidable even if Slovenia also lost a late goal at Wembley.

Would we have beaten Slovenia, Sloakia, Lithuania (a) and drawn with England if we had beaten Lithuania at Hampden? I doubt it somehow.

6 points from the first two would've been a very strong start psychologically.

Worth noting that Slovakia lost their first two so having to make up 6 points would've been tough for them.

Simply Lithuania are a poor team and not getting the full 6 off them was criminal. Slovakia did and they still have a chance of play offs if results go their way tomorrow.

I can't believe this is even up for debate for some people. Irrelevant of whether we should or shouldn't have won against Lithuania on the night, the fact we didn't beat the second worse team in the group, a team incapable of winning in Malta, cost us the play offs. People can moan about the England game but at the start of the campaign if you were asked what was more likely, drawing at home to Lithuania or drawing to England, what do you think the general answer would have been? Quite simply, if we'd been Lithuania at Hampden we're in the playoffs.
