Tartan_Wolf
It suddenly dawned on me that my wife is pregnant with our first on the 8th of September, which means there's absolutely no chance of me going to the Germany home game on the evening of the 7th. To make me feel better, what's the best match you've had tickets for and had to miss?
sjc1987
not had tickets but france at home is only game i have missed at home in about 12 years. Joined travel club after it to ensure tickets.
ParisInAKilt
Not quite missed but I somehow managed to lose my France home ticket from the St Enoch centre walking back to the car. Luckily that was the day when ssc members got 2 tickets and my gf at the times dad couldn't make it. Did dawn on me during the celebration how lucky I was not to miss it. jimstroma
Never say never. My Daughter was born 2 months early in 2003 and I got to go to the playoff against Holland when she was still in hospital
Toepoke
Similar to the OP I couldn't go to Paris in 2007 due to a heavily pregnant missus.

hannibal smith
The norway and Morocco games at France 98, was a poor student and couldn't afford it. Thought the next tournament wouldn't be too far away!!!!

I managed to get four tix for the Morocco game in ST Etienne because I had four tix for Bel V Ned in Bordeaux. Through a friend of a friend of a friend in Belgium..... we managed to swap them over. daddybuc16
i missed 3-1 win at home to ukraine because my son was born 2 days prior to it. Even now, it seems like it was the best atmosphere in many a while and i missed it. Also when my second son was due i missed macedonia at home and mcfaddens superb goal against them. always think that would have looked even better in the stadium than it did on the tele. All the best.
PASTA Mick
I got a call when I was outside Hampden before the Norway / Iwelumo miss match to say waters had broke and baby was on the way. I went to the match but wish I'd missed it. My daughter was born 2 days later so I didn't miss the birth. Unfortunately.

tartanhamish
My Father travelled a bit in Europe for his job & saw a few good club & country games in the 80s. Gothenburg for the Dons & Dundee Utd, Celtic in Bremen & Austria somewhere. He was in Brussels for the 83 3-2 defeat. He did however buy a ticket for a game in Switzerland in '83 but his boss found out & sent him elsewhere. We lost. Hamish
Grim Jim
not had tickets but france at home is only game i have missed at home in about 12 years. Joined travel club after it to ensure tickets. Never had to give up a game with a ticket in hand, but in a similar vein sjc, couldn't get hold of Hampden tickets for 2003 Germany or the Dutch play-off, so joined the SSC of frustration. A real shame since my kids had suffered some ups and downs before and missed the big atmosphere of those and drifted away. It was those big qualifier floodlit nights in my early teens that caught me despite a complete lack of, well anything with a ball myself whatsoever. VivaLaAndy
Did you not think about this before you got her pregnant? Could of waited a few weeks and the due date could of been end of September just in time for the first family holiday to Faro in October to see us qualify! Rory
, couldn't get hold of Hampden tickets for 2003 Germany or the Dutch play-off, so joined the SSC of frustration.. Exact reason we joined SSC, got tickets for every home qualifier no problem at all & then came the playoff against the Dutch... Couldn't get tickets. Absolutely gutted. scoobydoo
I managed to get four tix for the Morocco game in ST Etienne because I had four tix for Bel V Ned in Bordeaux. Through a friend of a friend of a friend in Belgium..... we managed to swap them over. Belguim against mexico in bordeaux. I bought 4 tickets for this from FIFA over the phone for 14 quid each and sold them all to an american ticket tout for 1000. I have a hilarious tale of the transaction with the tout, his bouncers and some hibs casuals in the mcdonalds which i can't be arsed typing out at the moment.
