To be fair, Naismith is a player who did a job for him, much higher up the league than Sunderland are expected to be. Carried on doing a decent job under Martinez too. Sunderland are in a precarious position, they've missed a lot of the window with Moyes only just being appointed and they need a LOT of players in the door. Naimsith would be a decent squad player at worst and fairly cheap given the EPL tv deal.

Whilst he did look really nervous and out of his depth in the couple of first team games he did get for Man Utd, it was probably a "false start" and in a United team under extremely heavy pressure to get results. A fresh start at Sunderland is just the thing for him. Two more young defenders we can add to the pool anyway if Love and Alex Iacovitti can get first team games for Sunderland and Forest this season. Completely agree, to many people quick to make assumptions on him based on two games when he was flung into the deep end. Boro have bid £6 million for Andy Robertson
ErsatzThistle
If Love can become at least a semi-regular for Sunderland, then it means we have in him and Callum Paterson two right backs available for selection. Hutton needs replaced asap. He was a good Scotland player in the past, indeed one of the few that put the effort in during Burley and Levein tenures, but he is a major liability now. Certainly from Robbo's perspective a move to WHU would be more attractive than moving to Boro I would think. At WHU he wouldn't be guaranteed first team football when Cresswell is back from injury (although he could be moving on) but in terms of everything else (stadium, European football, wages, manager) WHU would be a far more attractive move. And West Ham won't be back in for Robertson, they bought another left back (Arthur Masuaku) a few days ago. I think he should just stay were he is for the moment. andyD
Hull look certs to finish bottom, so it's a tough one. Not sure being in that team will do his confidence any good (getting wrecked every week), so a move might be best. Boro have a much better chance of staying up and he'd be first choice there i think. bossman4
There was talk of Liverpool sniffing about Robertson as back up/competition for Moreno, not sure how much was in that. Hull a bit of a shambles at the moment.

Hertsscot
Jack McBean has joined Coventry City on loan. I know at one time there was mention that he might be one to look at, at least WGS will find it easier to get to Coventry than LA! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37136354

Looking back at some old press articles it would appear that Levein got in touch with McBean a few years ago about switching to Scotland but he wasn't interested. Whilst we're on the subject of eligible players - Che Adams scored for Birmingham today. Apparently he qualifies for to play for us but is playing for England at the moment. Not advocating his call up, just mentioning it is all.
wanderer
Was McBean not on trial with Hibs and a couple of other clubs a year or two ago and it came to nothing? When Levein sounded him out he was only 16 or something and the Yanks were doing their usual praising him to the high heavens as the next big thing, yet his career does not seem to have panned out the way it was expected. ErsatzThistle
Nottingham Post reporting that Liverpool, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Southampton are all interested in Oliver Burke. Think he should probably stay where he is for this season. Southampton have an excellent record at developing young talent however. You could be right about Southampton, or for once I think playing at a lower level for a wee while longer might be the best course.
clarky1606
Wolves linked with Jordan Rhodes. It wouldn't be a bad move for him if he isnt going to get the minutes in the EPL, everyone knows how effective he is at that level. Wolves have had a solid start to the championship and unbeaten in first 4 games

Will Strachan ever pick Rhodes though? Hmmm.
