A wee reminder about last year's tournament

On the 5th July Tartan Army's from all over Scotland descended on Scone for the annual ATAC Tartan Army Seven A Side Trophy.

Despite the forecast it turned out to be a very warm and sunny day which ended up with many footsoldiers visiting nearby shops to buy suntan lotion and the bottles of water which were supplied kindly by Incy Wincy Tartan Army was much appreciated by all.

There were ten teams who had entered and they were split into two groups of five. The first group saw Incy Wincy and SETA 1 go through seeing off opposition from Linlithgow, Edinburgh and a team from the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal and is the second group SETA 2 and the Fair City Tartan Army got past West End Bar Airdrie, WESTA and Glasgow through Fife and Perth Tartan Army to progress.

In the Semi Finals Incy Wincy Tartan Army Defeated SETA 2 while on the other pitch the Fair City Tartan Army eventually saw off SETA 1 after a very close hard fought game which went all the way to penalties with the FCTA keeper saving the fourth and Fifth Penalty.

SETA 1 and SETA 2 decided not to play the 3rd place match and have a penalty shoot out to decide who took the medals for third place which ended up with SETA 2 claiming them.

So the final was an all Perth affair and despite a lot of good chances for Incy Wincy the FCTA won the match 2-0 and took the trophy.

So then it was off to the Wheel Inn for some well deserved refreshments and some football on the telly. We managed to sneak in a raffle and an auction inbetween watching the Argentina Belgium Q/F and many footsoldiers staying on to watch the later Q/F and try to drink the pub dry.

The trophy made its way to a nightclub in Perth where the Fair City Captain Kevin Davidson was last seen drinking Jaegerbombs out of it.

A big thanks to all the TA's for coming along, especially TASA/WESTA who managed to complete their fixtures despite being short of players, Scone Juniors for the pitch at a reduced rate and opening the refreshment kiosk, the Wheel Inn for putting on some food and putting up with us, Steve Whyte and his team of referees, everyone who donated some raffle prizes and also George Spittal, Scott Rae, Craig Morrison, Craig Daly and all the others who helped organise the tournament.

We had a fantastic day and managed to raise over £400 for the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal in the process and we at the the Fair City Tartan Army are looking forward to next years tournament.

Aye no half! Was a good day though. :ok:

I'm trying to get a Prestonpans TA team together for it but I can't play myself seeing I'll be at the Qatar game on the Friday and then I have the Aberdeen kiltwalk on the Sunday.

I think dean is sending out details this evening, first ko being shortly after 10am. Depending on the format that could be edinburgh based teams to accomodate later arrivals but I'll relay what he send here when I get it.
