We've been hearing these murmurings for some time, usually at the end of each unsuccessful campaign BUT I've got to say I am almost there too...

Now I've not missed a home game for 15 years and am a regular away game traveler, been goin to games for over 30yrs. I appreciate the away points system, I think it is fine BUT I fail to see the benefit in the SSC for those who don't or can't travel away for whatever reason. General Sale tickets are hardly difficult to get hold of.

Due to all the fking about by authorities moving games to stupid midweek days, transport being awkward at best (particularly for getting home when ScotRail seems completely ignorant of the fact that there are thousands trying to get the same few trains after the game), ticket prices being damned expensive plus optional but sometimes unavoidable expenses like food, drink, merchandising (jerseys, scarves, programmes), accomodation for some and time off work this is starting to become really fkin expensive. I've not pieced the costs together but I will when I get the time.

You've got to ask though , where exactly is our loyalty getting us?

:ok:

Did anyone get anyone get an email today from the ssc about a survey.

Aye. It's a load of crap. Questions are all whether you are gay, what sex you are, race you are, etc.

Why should it matter what the hell you are? If you are a fan then you are a fan. Or are they going to set aside a quotation of tickets for gay black guys now?

Here's a radical idea never work but worth a try what if no one renews until they put at a decent price

Joined just before Euro 92 so thats over 23 years i have been in it

Renewed the last time but decided not to give the SFA one more penny after that and didnt go to any of the home qualifiers

Wont be renewing this time

A sad state of affairs but the best analogy is continuing to go back to an ex that promises porn star sex but remains celibate

The questions were useless and no help whatsoever to being a scotland fan or member of the ssc.You would have thought with only a month or 2 to renewals they would be trying to find out if we wanted to rejoin or what we want for our money.More important stuff than what they asked today.

I'm not too concerned about the membership price. (Works out at £2 a month) however they need to put a stop on the ticket price hikes and have a massive think about where they are going. Too busy looking at England, Chelsea, Arsenal etc when they should be looking at Holland Germany and France for price comparisons and then working out value for money, Success etc and coming to a fair price from there.

There should be a 2 tier membership effectively giving us a STC (ScotlandTravel Club) & SSC (Scotland Supporters Club)

STC should be guaranteed away ticket (points appropriate) and home ticket

SSC should be guaranteed a home ticket and have the option to purchase an away ticket once application to purchase by STC members has closed if there are tickets left

So something like £50 for STC and £30 for SSC

I need to renew as I only attend away games.....I mean who the feck wants to leave the sunshine for a game in the East End o' Glesca

I agree with the idea but don't agree that £50 is anywhere close to being good value for the membership.

We should be paying nothing more than a small admin fee IMO.

Forget it... it is nice to think the SFA would consider anything in favour of the fans but that is not going to happen. Have a think about their questionnaire a while back which was designed so that you could only give answers that suited what they wanted to hear you say. That was an utter disgrace and it set the tone for their approach.

The STC used to be very much for the fans but in the last ten years or so, the SFA/SSC has become a commercial machine with one single aim to milk every single penny of cash they think they can get out of the TA. Nothing else just cash cash cash - just like the SPL.

They have a few specific parasites among the staff that should be utterly ashamed of themselves having brushed off the good and constructive relationship the SFA once had with ATAC - Jules McGeever being one - what a disgrace she has been and that commercial fella who is her puppeteer. The TA - SSC relationaship is now entirely gone - swotted away like an annoying fly. The minutes are online if you are interested to read them.

The SFA/SSC once provided excellent support to fans on away games - remember that people can get into bother or get hurt on tour. Then they realised that they didn't make money from away games and all of this pretty much went out the window!

Regarding the commercial strategy, they will devise some scheme to rip the piss for ticket prices just as they did for this recent campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if they made some modifications to the away points system to try and sell out the home tickets for all the qualifiers. This could be based around season ticket holders getting a ballot for England tickets for example. I would not put any sneaky tricks or schemes past the SFA if they can make money out of it.

The set up is all wrong with them being a commercial organisation like they are.

I have been actively considering giving up home games for a while but since I would still want to go to away games would have to join the SSC.

Did someone on here not get a reply from Regan regarding price hikes for the last campaign where one of the reasons given was due to having to pay for the use of Celtic Park and Ibrox because of Hampden being used for the Commonwealth games?

If that was the case, the SFA don't have that overhead this time around so will they drop the prices accordingly? (Rhetorical question, I already know the answer!!)

As somebody pointed out earlier, the SFA don't give a flying fvck what we or ATAC think, they will do as they please.

In the last campaign they knew that they would have 4 rock solid sell outs in home games with Ireland, England, Germany and Poland and priced tickets accordingly. They knew that if SSC members didn't buy tickets then someone else would whether they were Scottish, Irish, Polish or just wanted to see us play England or the world champions.

I think they rolled the dice and lost out a wee bit with the Georgia game and didn't much care about the Gibraltar game with 2 full houses at Parkhead making up any shortfall.

This time around if they have any sense, they will realise that they have only 1 sell out game and there will be no appetite among non regulars to pay £35+ to watch Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia or Malta and with no large community of any of these nationalities living in Scotland there will be no one willing to make up the shortfall should we not buy tickets ourselves. That would be crediting the SFA with a certain amount of foresight and common sense though!!!

As for season tickets, I personally think they will again treat us with their usual arrogance and disdain and announce in a huge fanfare that they have listened to us on prices and have reduced them for this campaign. They will obviously miss out the fact that there is no 'glamour' friendly that you must include with your season ticket and that they have effectively increased prices again.

Just my own thoughts but they have a big decision to make this time. I won't hold my breath!

Rule #1 in business - if you can't, or know you won't be able to, sell out your entire stock levels then you reduce your prices to the point where you believe you will.

Every empty seat is revenue lost that can never be recovered. It's not like you can reduce the price the day after the game like you can with unsold stock in other industries.

Surely the SFA will see this?

Then again....

Unusually I have read a few posts on here before replying.

There is no way that the SFA will reduce prices for this next campaign...you havent a hope in hell.

They realize that they will get 30k against Malta and 52k against England, its all been factored in to the pricing and there projections anything more for Malta game is a bonus to them.

Yes football fans being ripped off but the SFA know they have a loyal following and in business why not.

You make your choice if you can afford it go if you cant then no.

What I personally witnessed in Hampden against Poland (crowd, atmosphere and organisation) Will honestly make me think twice about putting in the effort soon.

Anyways happy ranting.

You live abroad? You've never mentioned it....

You and Ormond should get together and discuss not living in Scotland, i'm sure it'd be a fascinating chat...
