Players Coming From Non League Football To First Team

Recommended Posts

Josh Law came from Alfreton Town to the Europa league, where he scored 2 goals on his debut. Unfortunately he's never really lived up to the expectations that his debut set, despite being an ever present.

Dougie Arnott came from the juniors.

Did you boys not sign a lad from the juniors fairly recently too? I say recently it was probably about 9 or 10 years ago. Only played s handful of times as I recall.

Rangers signed Bobby Russell from Shettleston Jnrs

Darian MacKinnon came from the juniors (Clydebank) to Accies 2-3 years ago and is now playing Premier League football.

Good player, permanent member of the first team, but every now and again he does a tackle straight of the juniors and cops a red card for it.

He's currently suspended (again).

He's not a good player at all IMO. He's also a complete tosser of a laddie.

We signed Tom Brown from Glenafton. He scored in his debut for us against Dundee in our first game back in the Premier League.

He featured in the 1997 Scottish Cup win.

Thought of Broono when I saw this thread.

Junior Cup and Scottish Cup winner, must be a pretty unique double!

Thought he signed for Motherwell from Pollock

In our late teens we thought we had a pretty decent 5 a side team. One of our mates dad said he'd get a team together that'd beat us. Aye right, go on then. One of them in a black and white striped top virtually ripped us apart on his own. On closer inspection it was a Pollock top. Aye Dougie Arnott, he signed for Motherwell a couple of weeks later.

Charlie Austin was playing at a very low level in non league, Poole Town, before Swindon took chance then Burnley (was it?) then QPR and scored few goals in premiership, and England. Few Poole Town fans made fortune by betting on him years ago that he would play for England
