Another one is when hopeless managers who specialise in getting clubs relegated and/or put into administration - are given jobs solely because they are "right proper football men" according to their pals on Soccer Saturday and the like.

For past examples of these "right proper football men" or as I like to call them, professional losers, see: Gary Megson, Glenn Roeder, Peter Taylor, Owen Coyle, Alan Irvine and Brian Laws.

"At the end of the day"

False 9. WTF does that even mean?

False 9 to me is some Americanism shite they have tried to get in

beckhamesque and hes got a good touch for a big lad

Yep

Referring to a player in the plural e.g. your Lampards, Rooneys, Gerrards etc.

Aye and half the time they are talking about a far superior player

footy

These people should be shot.

Personally one of the ones I hate is

"Footrace"

It's not as if the s have just jumped on their Harley's to race to the ball

Referring to a linesman as "an assistant referee"

Referring to Scotland as "glorious in defeat", "brave" or "plucky"

Referring to anyone getting good money for playing or working in football as a "servant".

"soccer"

..And from the land of "Soccer", the term "go ahead goal"... Americans talk about it a lot, and I have no idea what it's supposed to mean

All these Americanisms get on my nerves. I heard a local radio commentator last Saturday describe some plod in League 1 as "Quarterback-like".

Seriously.

I think what he meant was 'he's a useless lump who only has hoof it as far up the pitch as you can' in his skillset, but I don't know what the chuff one of them does.
