It also means we are the European team with the longest wait since their last finals appearance (World cup or Euros) - excluding Israel who weren't a European side when they last qualified. Worse still I had a look at other confederations' tournaments and looking at countries who have been at the World Cup before, Israel are now actually the only country in the world who have had to wait longer to re-qualify for any tournament than Scotland! When we do well and come close we seem to fall just short usually a dodgy decision or two, or a nightmare draw, being the difference. When we don't come close its cos we'd been absolute shite and failed miserably. Euro 2020 is going to be shite and even if we do qualify for that I don't know if you could even count it as major championship qualification thanks to Platinis madcap scheme. The way World Cup qualification is set up these days it's almost impossible now for us to qualify unless we get a ridiculously lucky draw. It's a facking stupid idea to spread it around the four corners of Europe and goes completely against what having a finals tournament is all about ie bringing the teams and fans of all the finalists together for a superb festival of football. We could qualify but find ourselves tramping all around Europe for our group matches - no different at all to the qualifiers really and there will be little or none of the tournament atmosphere at the games. Euro 2016 would've been brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Euro 2020 will be shite. Thanks, Platini, you fat selfish kunnt. And forget world cups for a long time. No Euro 2016 and if we can't qualify for that then there's no much chance of WC 2018. Euro 2020 in that format WILL be crap, WC 2022 in Qatar will also be a bit of a farce (December, no 'pubs', no history or tradition or fitba culture in the country) that leaves us looking forward to Euro 2024 - 9 years away. After next summer us and Israel will be the only countries (still in existence) who have played at the World Cup but haven't played at any tournaments this century...
