Italian Ferries

Malta game next year...thinking of flying to rome for a couple od days..train to naples or salerno..then ferry to sicily ..dont think there are any that go from mainland italy to malta. Websites a bit unclear at the moment re schedules. Anyone experience overnight ferry from mainland to sicily?

I know about the sicily malta ferry. Considering mainland to sicily on the ferry and then either flying to malta from palermo

.or training it from palermo to pozzana i think where ferry to malta goes. After all that pissin about in italy .

ill be flying back direct.

John, you might be able to see this trip on the BBC series, "Great Continental Railway Journeys", as it was featured on there a wee while back.

I think at the time they were talking about taking it out of service and just using a passenger ferry, so you'd pick up a different train at the other side. But don't worry, its definitely still in service (or as I recall!)
