Fixture Lists

Recommended Posts

End of the day and my brain is fried. I run a Ross Shire school football tournament and was trying to complie the fixtures. We have 20 teams in it this year so groups of 5. I was trying to sort out the groups so that no one was off for too long and that no teams plays twice in a row and that no one sits out for more than two games at once. Not sure if there is a way but let's see if anyone here can spot a way I'm missing. So far I have-

1 v 3

4 v 5

2 v 3

1 v 4

3 v 5

1 v 2

2 v 5

3 v 4

1 v 5

2 v 4

As you can see I have team 2 playing twice in a row and team 4 sitting out for 3 games. Here's some problem solving for you!

New year, new problem. We now have 30 teams in our main tournament which is amazing, almost every school in Ross Shire now takes part.

We are looking to do a seperate girls tournament and have 7 entries for that. I could set up a third pitch which would make the fixtures easier but going to try and do it over two pitches to keep it all in together. Having one more team would make things very simple but with groups and knockout but with 7 I think I will just do one big league where everyone play everyone once.

I can't find any fixture generators online that will let me inout this sort of data, 7 teams over 2 pitches.

The fixtures would run roughly like this with 11 fixture sets.

Fixture set 1.

1 v 2

3 v 4 with teams 5, 6 and 7 not playing.

Fixture set 2.

 5 v 6

7 v 1 with teams 2, 3 and 4 not playing etc.

This is frying my brain far more than the one above. Ideally I would only like teams to sit out one game, maximum two. It also creates a problem of the last fixture set only having 1 game.

Anyone know a generator that would help or can work this out!?

Might just go with the 3 pitches which makes things far more simple.

There are teams playing 3 games in a row and teams off 3 in a row! Surley there is a way to do it so that you are only playing or off a max of twice in a row!

Just make sure Craighill wins!

We will be looking for volunteer referees for the big tournament in May...

6 pitches and a 4 hour + tournament. Reckon I'll need 12 refs so people can have a break and rotate on their pitch.

You're involved in football in Tain aren't you? Reckon there'd be any volunteers from your club to help out with your next generation of players? ?

PM me the details and I'll ask around.
