Ormond
Immigrants should learn to use the language of their new country. Yes. I've been learning to call my Wife a bitch regularly as it makes her feel loved and also referring to my friends as homies and niggaz. Charlie Endell
Immigrants should learn to use the language of their new country. Although I think Donny (or maybe somebody else?) has told off about this before, and the "zeee" isn't really an americanization at all. It was Donny. Most (British English) dictionaries list the 'z' spelling first.
Third Lanark
Same trouble every year as I can never spell this fvcking word at the first attempt. It also doesn't help that I'm an English teacher! I had to double check the spelling and write it on the board before my students came into class this morning. What words usually catch you out when it comes to spelling them correctly? Well try pronouncing it correctly for a start: 'FebRuary'. Third Lanark
'Definitely' is the worst offender. 'Finite' plus de and ly. Pronounce it right and you're halfway there...

Third Lanark
Correct. Listen, I'm a 'weegie' and I have NEVER ever said or spelt it like that; it's a fairly modern transgression.

fringo
This one gets me all the time. It doesn't follow the I before E except after C, should add or if it's in foreign. Edit while we are on it Ocean used to trip me up. As did Received (I before E except after C again).

adamntg
Eoin=owen Irish/Gaelic surely, and makes sense with that pronunciation. Who told Eoin Jess his name was pronounced Ian, cos I've never heard that for any other Eoin.

adamntg
Having a Gaelic name of indeterminate pronunciation is a bugger... It's only indeterminate if you don't know Gaelic pronunciation. What rips my knitting is folk making up their own Anglicisations of Gaelic names - Rury, Ruri, Ruariadh, Rhuaridh, Rooree. The name is Ruaraidh, it's a perfectly good name and if you want if for you child then spend five minutes on the internet to establish the correct spelling, leathann ri leathann.
