scoobydoo
Balloch Thistle, ex diehard labour voter like Calmac man, tried hard to get a foot in everyone's camp. Normally called a charlatan.
phart
Was Calmac formerly a die-hard labour guy? I didn't know that. I actually went to a game with him and he is sound.

I only remember because Jim Fairlie picked up on it and made some interesting point about rabid Labour converts... (Long forgotten but I'll see if i can retrieve it. (0.01% chance.)) As opposed to a 'gut nationalist'. As I recall it now... Calmac was a (converted labour) nationalist because he thought it was favourable to achieving his vision of a socialist utopia... But so conversely (as Fairlie pointed out) as soon as it was not favourable he would predictably turn coat.) So I think it is now clear... Calmac is Scunnered. It was round about the time when Jim Fairlie was tearing him apart of some argument over Jim's lass. Calmac couldn't back down or admit he was out his depth. For a clever guy he was hopelessly lost against someone of greater intelligence.  It has stuck in my mind but he wrote on here that he would vote against independence if it meant one 'poor' person was less well off because of it. Conditional/ gut nationalist sums it up perfectly.  Him and Balloch Thistle had it in their minds that because they were part of the SNP setup, be it a councillor or working for them, they were somehow better nationalists than others until it was pointed out to them that others had never voted against the SNP. That pissed me off as I had been a nationalist all my days having been introduced to it by Robert Curran. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Curran_(Scottish_politician)  Both complete frauds but Calmac man isn't scunnered. Calmac is clever and liked the use of hyperbole, lawyer training I guess, and would play to his sycophants. Scunnered is merely a twat. That was a bit poorly worded. Not saying that he did - this is what Fairlie said would/could happen if you are a 'conditional nationalist as conditions inevitably change. That said calmac was very pro SNP and Yes for the whole time I saw him post on here and I would bet still is but who knows.

phart
I mind all the Fairlie stuff, it was trying to shield Fairlie from all the personal abuse that got me into big arguments with BT, as i wanted to read what Fairlie had to say, and some folk spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make that not happen. Just didn't mind he was a die hard labour man previously. Â Personally i don't think that's wrong. If you consistently want better for people, and parties change their ideals and you don't then naturally you drift into their various zen diagrams as they inhabit then abandon various ideals you subscribe too.
