ParisInAKilt
Anyone else has the pleasure of paying for this? Having to do an English test for a language I've apparently been speaking all my life. Third Lanark
I actually, for my sins, conduct Speaking exams for foreign students. In recent years I have encountered no end of South African, Australian and West Indian native English speakers who had to take speaking exams to satisfy new Home Office regulations. We have to conduct the tests in exactly the same way as for non-native speakers. It's very awkward when you know after they introduce themselves right away if English is their first language. Don't know why you had to do IELTS - it's a difficult exam. Most universities in the UK now accept Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) Edited March 6, 2016 by Third Lanark additional info.
