You could argue uncapped 22 year old Tony Watt deserves more of a chance to prove himself for Scotland than 29 year old Ross McCormack with 11 caps and previous call ups.

You could but you'd be wrong.

Yes, but Mccormack is more of a flank player than an out and out centre forward like Watt; could you play him in the Fletcher role? Or as a number 10?

Nope. Strachan's spot on. He's keep the first 15 and binned the also rans for fresh blood. Isn't that what everyone was after?

No.

Aside from the fact that he's completely ignored the best player in Scotland outside Griffiths, and a consistent and acknowledged goalscorer in McCormack....why in God's name should we keep a 'first 15' that are proven failures ?

He sees them at training and clearly our mid-20s second choice of last term still aren't as good as the previous first choice failures. Time to try a new lot of back up to see if they can oust the first choice. Btw Shinnie is neat and tidy and a good player but he's never going to dominate an opponent or control a game. I'm excited to see what Watt, Burke and Tierney can do. They've all got the potential to get significantly better. Everyone knows damn fine what Shinnie can do. McCormack's a good player but where would he play?

If everyone knows what Shinnie can do, then why are Whittaker, Robertson and Mulgrew called up as potential left backs ahead of him, and why are Bannan, Fletcher, Brown and Bridcutt called up ahead of him as midfielders? Makes no sense.

Holy fuuuuck.

What a pile of utter guff.

Because Shinnie's performed consistently well for a few season's now, that means he's not good enough for Scotland, yet a few untried kids who have played a handful of games are ?

Utterly bizarre.

Always been a bit surprised that we have never actually seen anything of Caddis during Strachans time as boss.

At his first Q&A at Hampden after his appointment he must have name dropped Caddis at least half a dozen times in 2 hours (recall he mentioned something about his ex-Coventry and Celtic assistant manager being at Birmingham and telling Strachan that he needs to take a look) and do not think he was even in that squad at the time (think he has had only 1 call up?)

Steven Naismith & Steven Whittaker have withdrawn from the squad due to injuries, Ross McCormack & Paul Caddis have been called up to the Czech Republic squad!

Maybe strachans people have checked the TAMB and have told him some are not happy on here and better call up McCormack

Hopefully Caddis plays well and keeps his place in the squad and that's about the last weel see of Whittaker in a Scotland shirt. Naismith we know what he can do so it's good McCormack is in also.

Im glad McCormack is there but not sure about Caddis - he looks solid enough in Championship surely Shinnie or Bardsley better options.

Shinnie is a left back & Bardsley for some reason can't buy a call up!

Glad McCormack is in the squad deserves it, should be a regular starter for us, scores some cracking goals and his crossing of the ball is brilliant, would start him in prague now Naismith is out.

You really could say that for 95% of the players hes called into the squad then.

Not many he doesnt know what they can do

Yeah, exactly. His justification for not calling up McCormack initially was that he "already knows what he can do". I was just highlighting that Strachan was havering pish. :ok:

Lets see if he starts him and contradicts himself further.

Hopefully Caddis gets a chance too, still feel Shinnie should have been the one drafted in, doesn’t say much if he’s not even back-up to Whittiker never mind ahead of him!
