DoonTheSlope
On the Monday after the Italy game I have a 12 hour stopover in Poznan and would like to know how easy is it to get to the city centre from the airport and if there's anything sort of war related and a decent bus tour that I could visit to pass the time? Also any recommendations for good bar/restaurants would be muchly appreciated Thanks
fanatyk
From the airport you take express bus L which takes you to main railway station (20-30 mins depends on traffic) There is interesting war site from British perspective- British Commonwealth Cemetery on Cytadela Poznańska https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Cytadela Also fortifications are wort a look if you are into post-war stuff. It`s hard not to find something war-related anywhere in Poland. You will find a big monuments in city centre commemorating Powstanie Wielkopolskie (Greater Poland Uprising)-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Poland_Uprising_(1918%E2%80%9319) as well as Poznański Czerwiec 1956 (Poznań 1956 protest- first big uprising against communist rule after WW2)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozna%C5%84_1956_protests You can find lot of information relating tourism in Poznań (in english) here: http://www.poznan.pl/mim/turystyka/en/ Bus tours operates during the summer and you can take it one of the historic buses. It`s very cheap comparing to many city bus tours: there is 2015 PDF leaflet here:http://www.ztm.poznan.pl/assets/Konkurs/UlotkaautobusA4.pdf Regarding to restaurants: try some local cousine. Can`t remember any specific ones as my memory for such names is good but short, but Poznan`s cooking scene is one of the best in the country in my opinion. Can`t recall any bad meal i had while visiting. Old Town and surrounding areas is your spot. Also recomend Stary Browar- nice contemporary combination of art gallery and shopping mall, walking distance to Old Town
