Rossy
What many of us said before the EU referendum......that EU legislation was a handbrake on the right-wing excesses of a Tory party just itching to show its true colours.....is now beginning to become the reality. Without the protection of EU legislation, the Tory party are preparing to drive the rUK to the right in a way that is terrifying and disgusting in equal measures. Unless we have Scottish independence, or if the Labour party are unable to get their act together, we'll be faced with a Tory government for at least the next 10 years. By that time the rUk will be unrecognisable and we'll be pining for the social democratic policies of Margaret Thatcher. What's equally terrifying is how many people in the UK (and I include Scotland in this), who are delighted to have a xenophobic, greed-driven government. neilser
May is just Thatcher with a different stylist. Hard Brexit will dent Scotland's economy to a massive extent and, perversely, will no doubt give the 'Och, we're too wee and styupit' crowd even more reason to advocate clinging on to nanny's apron strings rather than stepping out on our own. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/oct/06/hard-brexit-could-see-scotland-lose-80000-jobs-and-cost-2000-a-head

Exactly. whether you wanted to leave the EU or not, all the doom and gloom about the economy is mostly pure speculation and would be even worse if there was a yes vote

exile
Is see #WeAreScotland has been trending today https://twitter.com/hashtag/WeAreScotland?src=tren - expressing solidarity for immigrants, new Scots, etc. (though some people just can't resist carping from the sidelines... as if they can't bear a positive spin on celebrating diversity to be associated with independence). What's it got to do with independence? Seen it being mainly pro indy. But surely North Brits love aspects of Scotland to? Right? Bit sanctimonious. But hope folk enjoy themselves. I was about to edit it it to say Scottishness rather than independence, but edit time ran out And yes some of the comments are a bit self-regarding, and likely to rile anyone who don't see Scotland as uniquely virtuous. But still, at a time when immigrants are feeling particularly vulnerable, sometimes a bit of solidarity between native Scots and new Scots is surely not a problem, but seems to be for some. neilser
What a shambles UKIP are - have just watched bluff salt of the earth Yorkshireman Mike Hookem MEP being interviewed on C4 news trying to explain how he and Stephen Wolfe were involved In a physical tussle which didn't involve any violence, nor punches being thrown nor even any pushing but still involved Woolfe falling over. How the f uck did the Tories end up pandering to this shower? They could have just offered them a square go in the car park...
