Friend reckons they're like War on Drugs but I'm going for the Cure meet Echo & the Bunnymen?

I'm going to agree with The Cure except meet Beach Fossils. :P   The more I listen I'm inclined to agree with War on Drugs both have very similar driving rhythms.

Couple of things been nagging at me lately.

I have a recent update in my tunes collection that I couldn't fathom. Sounds really popular and wondered if it is/was a smash hit in this millenium (I honestly would not be aware), plus found tonight I'd re-posted someone else's video.

Re-discovered that the former is Emmet Sky's from silverbear (Cheers!).

The later was originally from the OP (AvH) and seems I reposted it. Was bound to happen sometime :wacko: <-- supposed to be blushing. Though this one I only got from a gig at the Garage so can claim as discovered sort of independently :unsure:

Yeah, I've just had a bleary-eyed Saturday-night-in watching Windows Update on a re-install (fock off MS!) while browsing 19 pages of tunes on the TAMB. Better than the radio at least :wub:

Sorry no new tunes here. Nothing to see. Move along...

Thought I'd share this ballad I love.

"Scots of the Riverina" - written in 1917 by the great Australian poet Henry Lawson.

A powerful anti-war sentiment with Scottish-Australians as subject matter.

"The boy cleared out to the city from his home at harvest time
They were Scots of the Riverina, and to run from home was a crime.
The old man burned his letters, the first and last he burned,
And he scratched his name from the Bible when the old wife's back was turned."

"A year went past and another. There were calls from the firing-line;
They heard the boy had enlisted, but the old man made no sign.
His name must never be mentioned on the farm by Gundagai
They were Scots of the Riverina with ever the kirk hard by."

"The boy came home on his 'final', and the township's bonfire burned.
His mother's arms were about him; but the old man's back was turned.
The daughters begged for pardon till the old man raised his hand
A Scot of the Riverina who was hard to understand."

"The boy was killed in Flanders, where the best and bravest die.
There were tears at the Grahame homestead and grief in Gundagai;
But the old man ploughed at daybreak and the old man ploughed till the mirk
There were furrows of pain in the orchard while his housefolk went to the kirk."

"The hurricane lamp in the rafters dimly and dimly burned;
And the old man died at the table when the old wife's back was turned.
Face down on his bare arms folded he sank with his wild grey hair
Outspread o'er the open Bible and a name re-written there."

Lifted these 4 off my pal's memory stick. He tells me he has better taste in music than me.

:crazy: No idea why Jim's videos above are sitting in the quote box and damned if I know how to delete them.

It's not as though I wanted to pass comment :D

I knew the Anna von Hausswolff track but have no recollection of posting it - hope it wasn't that recent :unsure:  I make a habit repeating tunes as you probably found out while browsing the entire thread.

On another bleary-eyed night take a look back into the archived TBNT there's a lot of great posts in there. Hundreds of pages :ok:
