Disgusting headline, what paper is that in?  But to repeat myself (sorry Orraloon) and others on here this whole stramash is more about getting at Corbyn than dealing with racism of any kind. I heard someone on the radio yesterday saying some new thing they'd brought in to the Labour Party would deal with racism and especially anti semitism and I wondered why the 'especially'. Only good thing is the majority of people I've spoken to aren't being taken in by it.

It's probably The Standard which when I lived in London was nothing more than a Tory mouthpiece

You wont be surprised - it was the Mail on Sunday .......

Aye - when the story broke about Naz Shah there must have been some sprint from the reporters of the right wing rags to get Ken Livingstone's comments on it knowing that there was a good chance he would say something daft (he has plenty previous) and they could escalate it

Saw the Andrew Marr 'interview' with Abbot. He is a total khunt and I dont normally swear. I think Corbyn has actually been weak; he should should have gone on the offensive with the John Mann types and backed Ken to the hilt. The Israeli PM recently said in a US interview that Hitler wanted to expel Jews to Palestine. Was he a racist?

Why did Livingston even mention Hitler in the interview?

That's the first time I've heard that. Interesting that a fair chunk of what he says is about the plight of the Palestinians but the only bit that seems to be getting reported is the bit about Hitler. Says it all really.

And puts John Mann's actions into perspective

Aye, in most other walks of life behaviour like his would have got him a smack in the pus. Which is probably what he was after. Livingstone showed impressive restraint. Corbyn should be forcing folk like him out of the party but be doesn't seem to be up to the fight. He is just going along with the agenda that has been set up for him.

Here is the view of the Jewish Socialists group:
http://www.jewishsocialist.org.uk/news/item/statement-on-labours-problem-with-antisemitism-from-the-jewish-socialists-g

" Accusations of antisemitism are currently being weaponised to attack the Jeremy Corbyn-led Labour party with claims that Labour has a “problem” of antisemitism...."

" Those making the charges now, did not see fit to bring them up at the time, under previous Labour leaders, but are using them now, just before mayoral and local elections, when they believe they can inflict most damage on the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn."

"The attack is coming from four main sources, who share agendas: to undermine Jeremy Corbyn as leader of Labour; to defend Israeli government policy from attack, however unjust, racist and harmful towards the Palestinian people; and to discredit those who make legitimate criticisms of Israeli policy or Zionism as a political ideology. As anti-racist and anti-fascist Jews who are also campaigning for peace with justice between Israelis and Palestinians, we entirely reject these cynical agendas that are being expressed by:

• The Conservative Party

• Conservative-supporting media in Britain and pro-Zionist Israeli media sources

• Right-wing and pro-Zionist elements claiming to speak on behalf of the Jewish community

• Opponents of Jeremy Corbyn within the Labour party."

I still don't get what Ken is on about.

He is defending Naz Shah's comments, comments that Shah has apologised for, stating they were ill informed and made before she was an MP.

If she's apologised and said they were ill informed, why is Livingston supporting and defending them?

This whole manufactured anti semite smear rubbish proves for the umpteenth time what Kernie quoted on here many years ago.

The definition of an anti semite is not 'someone who hates jews' but 'someone jews hate'.

It is totally exploited and used to attack perceived enemies and is why the charge has become meaningless. It is scandalous what the Mann arsehole did.

The huge disappointment here is Corbyn. Where are his cheerleaders now. He appears to be a bit of a coward. All those people voting for him so where are his teeth, his balls?

Just curious, what would you expect him to have done? Booted out Ken earlier or without a trial?

I'm reminded of the Ed Miliband/Emily Thornberry case (White van tweet) - arguably what she did was fairly minor crime, but Ed knew Labour could not be seen to be anti working class so she was kicked out probably unfairly but "it had to be done" and she probably accepted it for the greater good (and apologised) - should Jeremy have "done an Ed" and Ken "done an Emily"?

Or are you saying JC stood up to the media and say wake up people, this is all a right wing 'dead cat' agenda that the BBC etc have fallen for (and make the row about the BBC)?

Very profound.

But on this occasion I'm not sure there are many Jewish folk doing the complaining?

No he should have booted John Mann out. His behaviour has been far worse than Ken Livingstone's.

Corbyn's only chance of getting control of the Labour party is by getting rid of as many Blairites as he can. He needs to be ruthless in how he goes about it, but I think it is maybe already too late for him. He just hasn't got the courage to take them on.

When I saw iMann chasing Livingstone I was amused at reporter saying Mann seemed oblivious to the cameras just at the moment you see him on the stairs having a wee sneaky glance to check where the cameras are.
