bonny78
Yet another depressing even numbered summer ahead L Years ago it didn’t bother me because we weren’t even close at qualifying (2014WC we fcked that up from game 1 with the 0-0 at home Serbia and the other games that followed under CL) but this one does! Fck up against a mino team we should have known better from lessons of 8 years previous and didn’t produce. 2012 was also a massive disaster with the 0-0 1st game (sep 2010). Begs the question, how many times have we fck up after one game in a campaign? Sep 2014 lost but not disgraced at all Sep 2012 (0-0 at home) Sep 2010 (0-0 away to a mino) Sep 2008 (1-0 away to mino) Sep 2004 ( 0-0 home v an average team) Sep 2002 ( 2-2 where the team should have been drowned after the game)
bossman4
Good starts are the key, no doubt. We have to do that this time, 7 points a minimum from first 3. Anything from Wembley is a bonus
Guest allyc
We are shit...got use to it along time ago.better not expect anything then if we do get something it's a bonus...can't deal with the expectation only to be continually let down. Toepoke
Just realised reading this thread it's ten years since we got a campaign off to a winning start, and that was against the bloody Faroes! Shocking stat, time to put it right...

We have to get off to a flier in this campaign - maximum points from the first two games.

Gives us a real chance to burry one of or even both of Slovakia and Slovenia early doors. If we are serious about finishing in the top 2 we have to start winning in places like Slovakia in competitive games. 7 points would do depending on results in other games. If we don't win in Malta then it's curtains from the word go no doubt. Slovakia's first 3 are England (h), Slovenia (a) and Scotland (h) Slovenia's first 3 are Lithuania (a) Slovakia (h) England (h) Not beyond the possibility that Slovenia and Slovakia could be on 2 or 3 points each after 3 games. I think Scotland to have 4 points after 4 games is more likely.
