How Scottish Labour members would appear to have voted today comes as no surprise to anyone Of those that still vote Labour the majority are of the Blair McDougall/Duncan Hothersall ilk typified by those seen in attendence at Gordon Brown interventions. Real socialists left to join the Greens/Rise yonks ago ..and yes many vote for the SNP as well as they are seen as a means to an end That end might not be a socialist Scotland but a Scotland that is far fairer than what we have under Westminster

The PLP maybe but not the party of which I am a newly rejoined member. The right wingers will gradually be weeded out and replaced. Amazed at how folk in Scotland cannot distinguish between Left and Right Labour.

Arguably there is very little left of left wing labour in Scotland as most of that has gone to the Greens, RISE or the SNP. Probably explains why Owen Smith won more support in Scotland than Corbyn. Do i really have to post the Jean Luc Picard picture to that absolute codswallop ? What exactly are Labour under Corbyn ? You really think it's socialism ? It appears there's a hell of a lot of right wingers to weed out and these MP's have been elected. I suspect they will keep trying to change leaders until it eventually happens or Corbyn just gets fed up and quits. It's rubbish because a Labour Party fully behind Corbyn would offer a genuine alternative to the Torys that could appeal to a lot of voters but a party infighting won't get elected. JC won't get fed up easily and his supporters won't allow him to give in. I'm optimistic that they will get weeded out. What the right wing can't do is to out-recruit the Left: they won't find 300k to support their Blairite agenda. No chance. I never thought the LP could be rebuilt in England; don't be shocked if it transforms in Scotland too.

thplinth
Corbyn faces a monumental challenge trying to transform the labour party back to what it was pre blairite takeover. And even if he manages to do that which is very doubtful why do they think it win general elections. The UK and especially england don't typically vote for left wing governments. So if Corbun cleans house and then replaces it with a party that is essentially unelectable again what future then for any kind of viable alternative to the conservatives. Massive gamble but I don't think he has the balls to do it anyway. He seems a bit wet.

It was probably the leader of Portsmouth Council Labour group who resigned yesterday. Doesn't make your point any less valid though.
