deecie
Depends what you're looking for. If you're into overpriced disappointment then I'd recommend Union Square.
Angus_Young
Haha open to suggestions mate, although would defenitely be keeping away from chain places. Looks like a few Indians are highly rated. 8848 or Cumin caught my eye, as did Maggies Grill. I remember years ago I went to a homemade pizza place. It was on a wee side street on the way up to Union St. Their gimmick was that they sold 'the hottest pizza in the world'. Any ideas where I might be thinking of? deecie
The standard of Indian in Aberdeen is way lower than in Glasgow, so I'd avoid. Maggie's is a bit pish. If you can get a table at musa if go there. If not Ciao Napoli.
euan2020
Never been there - but Silver Darling - Down @ pocra quay Silver Darling The Silver Darling provides the highest standard fine dining. The name is taken from the colloquial Scottish term for the herring and reflects the strong emphasis on fish on the menu. Opened back in 1986, the restaurant is owned and run by French chef Didier Dejean and has a unique location, being sited in a large glass conservatory on top of a castellated former customs house on the quayside, enabling diners to look out over the North Sea. The restaurant has been recommended in the Good Food Guide for 22 years continuously and boasts an impressive menu reflecting the chef’s roots and the quality of the local seafood. Starters served at dinner include pan-fried scallops with leek and onion fondue and Serrano ham, and Provencal fish and shellfish soup, whilst the mains menu features steamed turbot, poached monkfish, fillet of sea bream, and Aberdeenshire beef for non-piscivores. thplinth
You'd think for a city of Aberdeen's stature more places would immediately spring to mind.... but no. Hang on but what about out where they are building that new stadium. Surely a few decent eateries out that way. If all else fails try "Ye May Gang Faur And Fare Waur" you'll get a roll there. I seen Musa, looks cracking mate. Problem I have, is that the other half generally isn't too keen on fine dining. We were originally booked into the restaurant at The Chester as part of the deal but I changed it to b&b as we thought it would be a bit wasted on her. 18 hours ago, euan2020 said: Never been there - but Silver Darling - Down @ pocra quay Same as above, but also looks excellent, cheers for the suggestion anyway. 18 hours ago, euan2020 said: Used to go to these spots from work (Queens Cross) so are close to your hotel http://www.dutchmill.co.uk/ http://no10aberdeen.co.uk/ both above are good for beers even closer to your hotel - Turkish http://www.rendezvousatnargile.co.uk/ scottish food http://www.howies.uk.com/chapel-street-aberdeen/ will throw in the original Nargile since is No 2 out of 496 in Aberdeen http://nargilerestaurant.co.uk/ Turkish one looks very good. Went for a couple of Meze style meals in Cyprus and they were brilliant.

They do a Sunday carvery type thing. The beef is amazing. The bar also serves food the the burger is as good as you will get. Moonfish and Marcliffe are really good for the more top end/fine dining stuff. Shabaaz is a decent Indian. I like Maggies and the Boozy Cow - good for wings/ribs/chilli cheese fries etc, etc. Dutch Mill is superb for pub food and watching the fitba. No 10 is pub food but higher end than the Dutcher - nice place..

Forget you're in Aberdeen and you'll believe you're dining in Sicily. http://www.rustico-restaurant.co.uk/ Also Aperitivo, same family run business as Rustico/Rustichetto.http://www.aperitivoaberdeen.com/

In terms of value for money it's really very good. They now also have a brilliant take away/delivery service.

Im actually needing somewhere to watch Dundee - Rangers at Saturday lunchtime. Dutch Inn do the job aye? Aye I do like the look of Maggie's. Been to the Boozy Cow in Edinburgh and there is one opening in Stirling shortly. Enjoyed it. 4 hours ago, Heuch Moray said: Yes! Suppose it will be an option should we end up in the boozer all day Saturday. You know of anywhere that does good pizza? As I was saying in my op there used to be a cracking wee place just off union st but can't seem to find it. I had seen Amarone but I think that's part of a chain from memory. Di Maggio's maybe? Don't mind that but been to Di Maggio's plenty of times so wouls prefer somewhere different. Edited August 8, 2016 by Angus_Young

Looks like this place could fit the bill? Food in Chester restaurant is superb. The bar food is excellent also and a bit cheaper (still £15 for a burger though - if I didn't already say, it's superb too?!!). I suspect the breakfast will be up there too (don't know as I live roond the corner!). Dutcher (few doors down from Chester) will be showing Dundee v Rangers. Good pub and even being a Rangers fan nobody will bat an eyelid at you! We will be there for food and a few pints before going to the Dons game. Rustico is the restaurant. Rustichetto is their take away. I think they're in the same place though so you might now get pizza in the restaurant? The atmosphere is Rustico at the weekend is normally really good, as is the service and food. Be sure to book.... Hope you have a great weekend - if I see a lonely Rangers fan having a beer in the Dutcher, I will say hello and buy you a dram!

Don't mind paying a bit more if it's worth it and it defenitely looks like it is. Cheers for the info, it was Josephine's I was thinking of. I'd been telling the lady about it. Something quick like that would be ideal for Friday as we are going to Jimmy Carr....hence the reason I keep asking about fecking pizza That boozer sounds ideal given the early kick off so we will probably head there for a few. Hope to catch you for a pint mate.
