Thats unlikely to be the team or our formation but I would be happy with that. We're likely going to have a lot of the ball and need to be able to break them down. Let the full backs bomb on to support the forward 4 in doing some damage. So I'd probably look at something like: Griffiths Ritchie Snodgrass Phillips D Fletcher Bannan Robertson Hanley Martin Hutton/Anya Marshall Big questions over the defence though, as it looks like Russell Martin has been dropped by Norwich, as was Hanley at weekend, and Right Back being the usual bone of contention. wanderer Posted August 18, 2016 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Would like to believe Strachan would try something (anything!!!!) new, but I really doubt he will and the usual suspects like Forest, Fletcher, Maloney, Mulgrew and Hutton will start in Malta. I would like to see him try something like Matt Phillips and Snodgrass playing behind Fletcher or McCormack, as for a short phase in Prague earlier this year the 3 of them were linking up pretty well and when crosses were getting put in all 3 were getting on the end of them. The likes of McGinn, Bannan, Jack, McKay are not ball winners. Also agree that McArthur too slow and I'm not sure him and Fletcher are a good partnership. Too similar.
