Sweden brought on a certain Henrik Larsson for an ineffectual Martin Dahlin that day - and promptly did us a favour by sticking him out on the right wing. He did have a great game that day but his best game in my eyes was the draw in moscow.

That's a game I never saw due to being based abroad, but it has often come up as the favourite of those who were lucky enough to see both, so I guess it must be true. Either that or I felt like I had an extra 2 hours in th pub I think it was 3? It was pitch black by full time though, which may be causing confusion. I was about to be taken to Sunday school when a friend phoned and said they had a spare ticket if I'd like to go.

It was 5pm, Parkie - was playing amateur football in Brussels and the Scots amongst us were doing car arrangements to get us back in time for ko. Not only that, but our good friends down south drew against somebody that night, because I recall a couple of them didn't want to come past us to get to the exit after our win. Darren Jackson also had his best performance in a Scotland shirt that day ??

So did the wonderfully underrated John McGinlay - even although he and Jackson didn't see the ball after about the 20th minute!!

Seem to remember Tom Boyd being exceptional that night as well. It really was a hard fought point. *googles to check Boyd was playing*

Yeah, it'll never catch on.... (I actually agree, I quite like lunchtime games myself or midweek under the lights)
