It's either a contract or it's not. If it's not, offer the new one, then the doctors have to take it or leave (it). But for the Government to break the contract and enforce a new one, there must be a costed remuneration offered to the Doctors to compensate for the deficiencies in the new contract. Imagine if not one single Jr Doctor signed the new contract. They are one of the few Government workers who wield some semblance of power, due to their criticality to the country and the fact that there's a finate amount of them. Bristol Hibby's right though. To be honest, I wouldn't blame any junior doctor for voting with his or her feet and seeking employment where the terms and conditions are more favourable, whether that's the private sector or abroad. Another step towards privatisation, IMVHO.

Yes - but at the moment thats being kept to an attack on terms and conditions and not actual contracts They altered the redundancy (compensation) terms) 8 years ago so Civil Servants would get less - not those at the top end with the million pound packages but those who would expect maybe 2 years salary (£40000) Yesterday they announced further changes so they will get even less - From £40000 down to £24000 This is the forerunner for getting rid of thousands of public service workers in the next few years
