Tierney - Thoughts?

Maybe.

I think that maybe Robertson is a better defender at this moment in time. I also belief that a case could even be made for Lee Wallace being better defensively.

I beg to differ. Defensively Robertson is naive IMO. Head also goes down far too easily.

Wallace erm, just no.

I would like one of them to play on the opposite side to see how that would work out. it used to be quite common for a strong left back to play on the right in order to provide the cutting in option when attacking. just need to be sure either Tierney or Roberston can defend on the opposite side. if they can, then we would have two full backs for the next 10 years sorted out.

In the 1970s our standard full backs were Sandy Jardine and Danny McGrain both of who were notionally right backs, with McGrain playing on the left as he was equally as comfortable on that flank.

Neither Robertson nor Tierney are a Jardine or a McGrain though.

Tierney lb and robertson lm would be ideal for me, both good going forward and robertson could provide cover no problem if tierney is further upfield.  Tierney is probably the better defender for me hence why i would have him at the back.

Martin and Hanley have played together how long?  We have lost goals against Gibralter, Malta, Slovakia, Georgia, Lithuania....etc etc. We lose goals from free kicks, corners, open play.... it is awful.

Who does Strachan have in his backroom staff that is a proven international player with experience to organise and structure defences?  No Colin Hendry, no Davie Weir, no Richard Gough, Alan Hansen, Willie Miller, Alex McLeish, roy aitken, danny mcgrain, .... it is so obvious he needs to bring someone in who can organise the defence and assess players strengths. We have Strachan because of a support that chanted his name after beating Gibralter in Portugal...he should have been sacked how many other managers kept their jobs after failing to qualify for the Euros?    Strachan plays zonal when it does not work....he man marks when it should be zonal.....he never protects his posts and never runs out at free kicks only some of his failings.......he plays players out of position, players who are not match fit, and omits in form players Wallace, Mcormack, Berra, Bardsley, George Boyd, Armfield, Charlie Adam, Griffiths, Dorrans.....he then plays young guys like Burke for two games then banishes them....... how awful to treat a young guy like that.

Arguably players worse or of a similar standard to Martin and Hanley haven't looked as weak as they do that the moment. In both games there the whole team looked unprepared and tactically naive.

Exactly....no organisation, tactically inept, and bad choices of players.....why Fletcher when so unfit?  why Snodgrass out of position?   why no Griffiths when on fire?  Why Hanley when Berra so fit and active Hanley not?     its awful.

A lot of people thought that Alex Miller was the main reason for Craig Browns success  and I am pretty sure he was a defensive coach at Liverpool. Perhaps he could sort them out?

Well about time somebody came in cause Strachan does not have a clue it was also his downfall at celtic and southampton.....canny believe somebody has not picked up on it and done something.......goals we lost against Poland, Germany and Ireland were defensive mistakes.......against Georgia Gibralter malta and Lithunia schoolboy stuff,   it needs sorted.

Since wee ginger picks scottish championship players, whats wrong with looking at big Steven Ando from Perth Saints in there, far better defender than Hanley and while they are at it, Swanson is in the form of his life, especially when you see the likes of Barry square ball Bannan getting in there, and big Zander Clark is a top keeper in the making, but is never going to happen as Gordie only likes players from big clubs and so called big leagues, in his small narrow mind.

Strachan said in an interview before the Lithuania game that he was delighted to have 4 or 5 Scottish players in the first 11 at Celtic.....he never started 1

He's too busy trying to get one over the media, that's OK if your winning games but not if you haven't qualified for 20 years

Well according to Rossy Wallace is better defensively. Thankfully he is totally clueless and Wallace won't be picked.

Almost as if Rossy is a secret Rangers fan. Or is he just out of his depth?

Do you have an opinion on Tierney or just a hardon for Rossy?
