scottishedgar
It needs to be a stand alone fixture if re instated

jock strap
No for me. Nothing hurts like a loss against them, friendly or not.
Bino's
Even when we had world class players we never beat them last home win, 85, last before that, 76 we still loved it cause when we did win we remembered it for a generation which is about as long as we have qualified for a tournament
John_B81
Not at the ticket prices, no. And certainly not on a mid November evening. Would happily have this back bi-annualy in the month of August (like last year at Wembley) and at a reasonable price.

Sempre
Every four years we should play a home and away leg within a week of each other, ie a Friday-Tuesday would be fine with me. That's a long enough gap.
fraz65
So should we only reinstate it as a regular fixture if we're guaranteed a win? I thought it was a much better match than a friendly against someone like Denmark or Nigeria would have been. Most home friendlies are awful and devoid of atmosphere and competitiveness. I'd be happy to see the England games as an annual event.
Auchinyell Sox Change
Even when we had world class players we never beat them last home win, 85, last before that, 76 we still loved it cause when we did win we remembered it for a generation which is about as long as we have qualified for a tournament exactly what i was thinking true of the 60s,70s,80s where we were supposed to have our best teams out we regularly got a doing from them home & away like you say the odd win was enough to have everyone going mental i have heard it said we got too focused on those games when we should have been looking at euros more seriously how many times have you watched baxters keepy uppy , daglishs nutmeg , mcqueens header , goughs header etc but glossed over the 3rd division striker on fire , shannon scoring for fun , dodgy keepers , dodgy perms..... we were generally more evenly balanced back then (on paper) where as now a tall order to compete with the wealth of talent they have Edited November 19, 2014 by Auchinyell Sox Change
COLT NY
I was really glad to hear that we were playing them again home and away when it was first announced. The Wembley game was great (despite the defeat) and I was really up for it. I couldn't get that interested in this game though... A Tuesday night should in November. right after a key qualifier completely nullifies any importance to the game. I'd say there's no point in playing them every year at this point. It would be good not to leave it 15 years until the next one though. A two week summer tournament every four years between the home nations and ROI would be good....Need to find a way to make it meaningful though, like a trophy and medals, etc. Edited November 19, 2014 by COLT NY
ParisInAKilt
Not every year, maybe every 2 or 3. Can't say I'm all that interested in a home nations tournament either.
Lamia
So have we got this out of our system now? Have people realised what this was all about really?
weekevie04
Not at all. Next time hopefully we meet will be in a tournament and if we don't ever qualify or meet them in a tournament, I'd be happy to never see them play England again. dipped flake
If it was a Saturday fixture every 2nd year set at reasonable prices it would sell out at a canter every time. Problem is the $FA have now set their benchmark with super high prices with many people obviously more than willing to pay it. So if they try to reinstate this is a regular fixture at current prices the attendances would slowly start to decrease and people would get sickened. that's how I see it, every 2 years, alternate Wembley/ Hampden
jts73
Yes every two years - All about progression out team is getting better theirs worse , I think we benefit from the fixture more perversely It reminds our players of the level they should be playing at there is no hiding place ,I think we were competitive last night in spells against a good England performance this probably will give us some pointers for the games ahead where we have to do better without the ball Germany Ireland and Poland We always get pumped out of tournament in the first round too , does that mean we should fear that aswell ? Scotland V England IS International football, its where it all began – dont hide - grow a pair !
vanderark14
Every two years is a good compromise in my opinion. I'd rather see us play England in a full house that a half empty ground where the opposition and us teat it as a training match. Now that the dust has settled from last night we have to take some perspective and realise we were outclassed. What's important is that our boys learn from it and continue to learn when we play opposition like England.
wanderer
Nope, yesterday was the complete opposite of the feel good factor that was had at Wembley last year. Should either be one friendly once in a blue moon, or we get paired together by UEFA/FIFA in qualifiers or finals.
Shotts56
No. I would rather go and play with my foreign pals.
Gman1990
I didn't really enjoy last night tbh. I still thought in spite of everything it still felt a bit like a friendly at times and there was a lack of intensity to the game for long spells. Like others said the fact it was a Tuesday night in November wasn't great either. TBH I just hate friendlies no matter who we play. Even when we played Argentina and Brazil they were pretty gash. ger intae them
I'd love to play them every 2/3 years. folk are saying they don't want to play because we always lose ...... what a lot of sh1te! aye, last night was crap and its painful when you lose, but I think when we beat them the high is much higher than the low is low after a defeat. if yer not up for beating yer biggest rival then you might as well give up. as jts73 said "Scotland v England IS International football, it's where it all began - don't hide - grow a pair !". SwinnyTravel74
Not for me. Unless it's played like a proper competitive match, I'm not interested. Especially when it's been hijacked as a money making venture where only the better off fans can afford to go. Half the crowd just sat on their hands all night. The proper TA, and Hampden as a venue, would have made that a much better atmosphere.
1320lichtie
Thing is I wasn't even pissed off or anything last night, they're our rivals and always will be but let's leave it for the competitive games. If Arbroath played a friendly v Montrose it would be shite tae, just no the same when it's a friendly.
