deecie
GFA say it'll be confirmed by the end of the year. There's no rush.

Larky Masher
Where would the TAMB be without a bit of misperception and that's a good example.
Chris frae Killie
To be fair if you read it closely, you will see he/she is asking a question and has forgotten to place a question mark at the end of the sentence, therefore they were not actually stating that the game is definitley to be played in Portugal! The english is not the best and missing punctuation mark along with a misleading title didn't help! Is (Read 'Has') It been confirmed (if) the game is to be played in Portugal (?) scottincarlisle
Think if anything goes wrong on Tuesday our game will be elsewhere.
THE STAIR PARK NUT
Cannae go wrong as nobody will be there(unless Georgia have a big expat community in the Algarve)!! Forget the security firm issue, I firmly believe the tax issue was the main stumbling block! Pogo
Robroysboy
Rumours are the stadium does not a a valid safety certificate. If its a tax issue tough titty, it should be played in faro. Unless a large brown envelope can be arranged? London calling would be too convenient. Got digs booked in albuferia but could easily be cancelled. UEFA rules would mean they must stay in Portugal if the stadium doesn't pass then there are plenty of other options in Portugal. Many of our fans had it from a reliable senior FAI source our game could be moved 2 days before the "security issues" happened at the Gibraltar v Poland game. I suspect if UEFA insist they stay in Portugal then the Gibraltar FA will resolve the issues with Faro rather than move to Lisbon or Porto. If Poland or Georgia object my understanding is they must stay in Portugal. UEFA may not allow a move for tax purposes anyway which is the reason as opposed to the excuses for the proposed move. However given that we all should win easily they may allow it. However given they went to CAS to get UEFA membership relations may not be the best. Hard to call hence I'm not booking. Did Russia not torpedo Andorra attempt to play Ireland in Barcelona a few years back on the basis of "unfair advantage to the away team"? Given they have already played two nations in Portugal and they have said from day one that would be their home for the qualifiers, I can see it being nowhere else than Portugal. As you said, very worst moved to Lisbon or Porto, but I think that is last resort and GFA will ultimately end up crumbling and accepting they are stuck in Faro. hannibal smith
Rumours are the stadium does not a a valid safety certificate. surely a modern stadium built ten years ago would be able to get a safety certificate. One thing that might let it down would be the temporary stands behind each goal which did not look all that safe when i was there and i am surprised they are still standing ten years later. Agree, I can not see how that can be a major issue since they have been playing games there for almost a full year now..... plus doesn't one of the two teams from Faro use it as their stadiums? Still suspect it is the GFA trying to play a sly one to either get a lower rent on the stadium, and are trying to come up with any excuse to stack the odd's in their favor. I researched the stadium when i was ot there on hols. The stadium is used as car boot sale market. No local teams play there.

Holidayed in the algarve last year and the locals said no team uses the stadia. It was built for the Euros and is now used to accomadate a local Sunday market !
