Danny Lennon To Take Charge Of U21's

Did a good job at St Mirren, never understood why they got rid of him.

I think the board weren't very happy with his transfer dealings in his final season. Lot of bad decisions made there.

A lovely guy and decent manager. Tried to get St Mirren playing good passing football and bringing through young players was always a priority for him. His failings lie in transfer dealings (not really an issue here) and results are often inconsistent. St Mirren would go on long barren runs without a win then pick up a string of excellent results under him.

Think he'll do well in this role, even though it's only for one game.

Mr Kilt has nailed it from a saints fans perspective. We played some great football at times over the first 2 seasons and had good results but then would go 2 or 3 months of total dung. The league cup win two years ago was the best day ever as a saints fan but it covered over what was a shocking league season that year.

In the end his transfers were bizzare. Would sign guys on two year deals only to punt them less than a year later, wasted a shocking amount of cash on paying guys off. Dougie Imrie being the obvious one. Spent about £30k on him only to pay him off later on. At one point let every striker go leaving us with only at 35 year old Steve Thompson.

Job like this will suit him as he'll get them playing good football and thankfully he cant do any transfer dealings.

The problem wasnt letting him go it was who we replaced him with was the main problem. Still a legend for 2013 and a total gent, glad to see him get the chance.

Seemed alright from the interview and like he was taking it seriously, rather than a "i'll fill in, pick the same squad as the last guy and hope for the best."

It's one game, so hard to get them playing differently perhaps, but still, it'll be interesting to see who ends up in the squad and what he tries to do with them.

Watt? Feruz? Gauld? Fraser? Kennedy? Doesn't seem a shabby forward line if he can get them together.

Fraser hardly ever plays for Bournemouth now. His career has stalled there.

He's only 20. And he's still getting games - he played on Saturday. Also Bournemouth are 2nd in the League, so he's competing with in-form players and still getting some chances.

He got a grand total of 15 minutes on Saturday. He also hadn't played at all for a few weeks prior to that.

When Fraser has played for them this season it's been more often than not off the bench and only for five or ten minutes at the end. That's not good enough.

Until he's playing at least semi-regularly, someone else should be picked for the Under 21s ahead of him.

That's a bizarre statement. Half the U21 squad struggles to get game time. Would you drop Jay Fulton aswell?

I think if Fraser was getting regular starts at 20 for the top team in the Championship then he could expect a call up to the main squad.

Fulton has shown he has a little something special and is edging closer to Swansea's first team, which makes him an exception. The starting XI for the Under 21s need to be match fit and have some recent playing experience.

Too often during Stark's reign of terror we picked loads of lads (mostly from the Old Firm) that weren't even getting a game for their own clubs' reserve teams let alone their club's first team.

Fraser's not getting twenty starts. He's sitting on the bench and staying there most weeks. If Bournemouth go up they will bringing new players. That will be even more bad news for Fraser.

At u21 level, better to play reserves with good potential over 1st team ones from poor teams with limited potential. The latter being how we managed to get humped 6 nil by England.

Could be argued that Stark's match tactics and the SFA's daft decision to choose a strong England team as friendly opposition was also partly to blame there.

I wouldn't pick Fraser for the Under 21s, just my opinion. Anyway it's more the idea I'm opposed to from the previous poster that just because he's signed to a high flying Championship team he must be some good. Their hardly playing him. In fact he's only played about four games since the New Year and that's despite being fully fit. It will be even harder for him to get into that team if they go up as they will inevitably bring in new players and the competition will be much harder.

It would be better if he went out on loan or returned permanently to the Scottish Premiership.

It's far too early to suggest he's failed. He's playing at a higher standard than all but one SPFL team. If he's still a sub at 22 years old fair enough. The Bournemouth fans seem to rate him. I do agree if they get promoted he will have a tough job getting game time at that particular club.

Who did you have in mind?

John McGinn probably.

It looks as though Matt Kennedy will be getting games at Cardiff now, so he's another one to consider. One or two of the young lads at Hearts or Hibs may be worth a shout too.

It would be good if Lewis MacLeod were to be available but it's probably better for him to miss this game and build up his fitness down in London.

Don't think anyone has a clue what's happening with Islam Feruz.

Gauld will be better off in the senior squad for the Northern Ireland and Gibraltar games.

Gauld in senior squad but drop Fraser from u21s for not getting enough game time. Do you know how daft that sounds?
