Toepoke
10 points in the bag, will a similar second half performance be enough?...

morrison1982
10 points in the bag, will a similar second half performance be enough?... It would win the "best third place" spot at the absolute worst.
ParisInAKilt
You're hoping we can count on 6 more points from Georgia and Gibraltar . . . . 9 more available. Will 4 be enough from them? We've came along way that half way we are probably disappointed not to get a point in Germany

TheReid
Georgia away will be a terrible game, honestly not looking forward to it in the slightest.. Can see us walking Ireland away after tonight's performance as they weren't that good,we'll do it in a typical Scotland fashion and make it difficult for ourselves.. Piersquared
On a quick guess at how it might pan out. Germany win every game as they've now recovered from their post-world cup celebrations - 25 pts and 1st place. We beat Poland, Georgia and Gibraltar, draw with Ireland and lose to Germany gaining 20 points and pip Poland on the head-to-head. 2nd place. Poland beat Ireland, Georgia and Gibraltar and lose the other two finishing 3rd with 20 points. Ireland beat Georgia and Gibraltar finishing 4th with 14 points. No draws seems very unlikely so add it could come down to small margins in the end.
GeeJay
If we keep up this good form but just miss out on top 2, we can also qualify directly from 3rd with highest points total. We're currently top.
Stuart87
Already feeling very nervous about the next 4 games. All could go either way. Edited March 30, 2015 by Stuart87
weekevie04
I think Germany will now win the group, and it will go down to the wire with us, Poland and Eire. I fear we'll lose in Georgia. Maybe it's bad memories from the last time and Topmöller doing his best for us by selecting 17 year old keepers and strikers. Yet we were hopeless and well beaten 2-0 by them. Pessimist Scotland- Eire(a) 1pt, Georgia(a) 1pt, Germany(h) 0pts, Poland(h) 1pt, Gibraltar(a) 3pts. Poland - Georgia(h) 3pts, Germany(a) 0pts, Gibraltar(h) 3pts, Scotland(a) 1pt, Eire(h) 3pts. Eire -
Flure
Who or what is this "Eire " of which you speak? I've had a look at our fixture list and can't find any reference.
ParisInAKilt
May come back to haunt is but can't see us losing in Georgia. Otherwise it's hard to predict. Could easily get 6 points from Ireland and Poland, or 0. Looking forward to june already
North East Loon
In the past Georgia would have fvck up written all over it. Look at some of the fantastic away performances we have had from Scotland since WGS took over. In Gord We Trust Different set up, different mentality. Eire - The thing that cost us in Georgia in 2007 was that there was an Old Firm game a few days later (i.e. at Saturday lunchtime after playing in Georgia on Wednesday night!). A big chunk of our players were Rangers or Celtic at that time. Some of them pulled out and the ones who did play looked half arsed. Georgia messing around did not help that lack of commitment / complacency. The Ireland and Poland games are impossible to predict, as there really isn't much between the teams. Poland looked comfortably better in the first half last night, but Ireland totally battered them in the second. Maybe Poland were settling on the 1-0 but they took it to a ridiculous extent. Our game in Poland was slightly similar, we (as the away team) looked clearly, but not decisively, better for the first 60 minutes but in the end we were lucky to get away with a draw. The one thing in our favour is that Ireland really have to beat us or they are in deep trouble, even just to get third place. Ergo that should open up counter-attack opportunities, which we exploited quite well in Germany and Poland. Our concern of course is our defence, can it withstand sustained pressure? bossman4
Had a look las night at the last to campaigns. Norway for the world cup managed 16 points in a group of 5 and finished 3rd, the next best that time was 13pts. The last euro's the best 3rd place team had 11 points after you take away the bottom teams. I'd say 8/9 points from our last 5 would bank us best 3rd best on the average above

wanderer
Half way through and think we are in the position we expected to find ourselves in. Only thing would say that Ireland and Poland picking up points against Germany has not helped us (had Germany been firing on all cylinders we would actually be in 2nd place just now). Good that there is now some space between us and Ireland, so a win in Dublin and we could effectively knock them out..... think as long as we avoid defeats to Ireland and Poland, and avoid a banana skin in Tbilisi, we will be alright.
