Drawing 2-2 with 10-man Belgium is the worst I've ever felt after a match.

We have a winner!

On face value a draw at home against Belgium isn't a bad result but to lose the lead in the last minute is always going to sting. But to make matters worse, if we had held on and won the game then we would have finished second in the group at the expense of Belgium and - I think - qualified for the 2002 WC finals.

Two other occasions come close: the 2-2 draw against the Faeroes in Berti's first competitive game in charge (although I am perhaps confusing disappointment with embarrassment) and, for me personally, the 0-0 draw against Serbia in the first game of the 2014 WC qualifying campaign. For me, that game encapsulated the inertia of the Craig Levein era. I have left Hampden after defeats feeling less deflated than I did that day.

It was even more deflating three days later when we drew with Macedonia at Hampden.
