ibelieve!!!
Stephen Gallacher got to finish joint 2nd (or better) in the Italian open to qualify for the European team. After 6 holes in the final round he's sitting 2nd, one ahead of 3rd (another Scot, Richie Ramsay) and 3 of the lead. Go on Stephen, ensure there's a Scot playing at Gleneagles!! wembley67lisbon
Now Ramsay isn't doing him any favours. After a blistering front 9, he has hit a few poor t shots.

wembley67lisbon
He will be selected,if not,it makes a mockery of the whole selection process. Hopefully he is but the whole point of wildcards is you can pick anyone else. Don't see how it makes a mockery?

You're right it wouldn't makes a mockery of it, but it would be puzzling if an in-form player was picked over someone who has Ryder Cup form but no recent form. dandydunn
Hopefully he is but the whole point of wildcards is you can pick anyone else. Don't see how it makes a mockery? I see what you're saying, but the wild cards should be for people that have performed, but not quite made it,not a chance to get the mates in or past heroes. If certain people wanted to play, they would try and qualify on merit. Stevie G has done that all season and deserves it. Imagine how each player would feel if they never made it. Donald would probably be,ah well,I'll get it next time. Gallagher would be in bits and possibly never be the same again. To me,that says who should be selected. Just my opinion though. No point having wild cards in that case. I think the US team used to just be the top 12 on the order of merit?...

biffer
I think it's the right choice - I would've swithered between Donald and Westwood, but I think Gallagher's record over this year, and his past record on the Centenary course, make him a sound choice. thewolf_1980
Glad he got in but his matchplay record is brutal. Just checked that there: - 0-7 in Singles 2-2 in Fourballs 1-1-2 Foursomes. Improvement certainly needed but I'm sure the home crowd will spur him on.
Mitre
Wonder if the Uber Nats will cheer him on or not since he is in with ENGLISHMEN and other Europeans. Well done anyway. Added incentive to cheer on Europe when their is a Scottish interest.

Both have struggled a bit but westwood just shades it for me. Poulter was born to play in this tournament and Gallagher has been fantastic this . but for a ridiculous, out of the blue round from Howell on Sunday he would have got there automatically anyway well done to him

saintlyscot
Gallo deserved to get in. Great for a "home" ryder cup To have a Scot. Stephen has a great knowledge of the course and will be vital to keep the cup against an incredibly motivated us team.
BremnerLorimerGray
Pleased for Gallacher. As said previously his singles record is pash, but this is most definitely a one off and he will have the home crowd behind him.
