Dave in London
TBH, I never got in to Sonic Youth, but everything I hear from them tickles my fancy. I should probably investigate at album level....
DonnyTJS
TBH, I never got in to Sonic Youth, but everything I hear from them tickles my fancy. I should probably investigate at album level.... Well worth exploring. Goo, Murray Street, A Thousand Leaves, Daydream Nation - loads of good stuff, plus the great The Whitey Album which they released under the name Chicone Youth. That one is called 'Maria Carey and the Arthur Doyle Handcream' but the name was changed on the album for legal reasons. They've produced a number of tracks about female singers and the music industry: they're especially wrapped up in Karen Carpenter ... silverbear
Good to see you back Donny. You've missed War on Drugs at the Academy (but sound was poor), Stereo MCs at Holmfirth & Beefheart's Magic Band at the Greystones last week ( a few old heads came out the woodwork for that) & off to see Alabama 3 at the Corporation this evening. That pint's getting cold Hope to catch up with you when you're home next.

DonnyTJS
There is a reason punk happened. ELO encapsulated most of what was wrong with music in the 70s. Still, if you pay your £130 I hope you enjoy it. We can thank 'em for that then ... And now for summat a little bit different:
Larky Masher
I listened to this at gym yesterday, I remember as it if it was yesterday and it's a brilliant example of a band at their peak in one of the best concert venues there's ever been. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ObHezZoZ1I

DonnyTJS
Love 15yr old Jasmine Thompson's voice and emotions. Aye, lovely voice that. A Thompson with a dodgier voice but quite good on guitar: ... and when he was a fat lot younger with a better singer:

Heuch Moray
Jeezo. Learned something on the TAMB today. Richard Thompson was in Fairport Convention! Never realized. Before my time of course It took me on a journey through the Wainwright/McGarrigle dynasty which would then have resulted in me posting a Leonard Cohen. Instead...All you have to do is put your foot hard down to the floor........or spot the car you used to own.
