Hopefully he gives the youngsters a game and we might just have a chance of reaching the play offs.

Maybe he can improve the teams fitness as that is seriously lacking just now as well.

He seemed to do ok with a mediocre Motherwell squad so he's used to working at a higher level than Rangers are at right now. Hopefully a change of manager, even in the short term may have the effect of giving the squad a boost for the rest of the season. I don't think Rangers are strong enough to get through the playoffs this season so he might actually be a slightly longer term appointment.

Mmmmm....u might want to ask Motherwell fans about that. Still, King had to something I suppose. Edited by slasher

still a diddy team

Thank you for your insightful view. It may take some time to consider but I'll get back to you.

On the other hand due to the lack of pace across the Rangers squad he may not be able to change much.

I'll reserve judgement just now.

If Rangers keep on going the way they're going, there's a real chance they could miss the play-offs all together.

As it is, there's no difference in either finishing 3rd or 4th, and the gap between Rangers and Falkirk should be enough to give McCall a bit of breathing space between now and the end of the season.

But unless he can perform miracles, it's incredibly difficult to see Rangers getting through 3 play-off ties against QoS, Hibs and possibly even Motherwell.

Fitness and blooding youngsters weren't his strong points, hence the ageing unfit squad he left at Fir Park.

Mccall did a good job on the whole at fir park, but he did have quite a few

So the Motherwell squad under McCall wasn't up to much in regards to fitness either?

I tend to agree. The Rangers squad lacks any real pace and this has been limiting the type of football we can play. That and the fact that there are quite a few wage thieves picking up their money for little or no effort.

A mate made an interesting point during the OF game. At half time McCulloch came off the pitch chatting happily away to Kris Commons. How is that acceptable behaviour when you're being pumped that you come off at half time chatting to anyone with a smile on yer coupon? I'd have been raging and in no mood to talk to anybody. Seems a lackadaisical attitude runs right through the experienced players and that's just not acceptable.

Another "Rangers Man" zzzzzzzzzzzzz

What's wrong with that?

A guy with a bit of management skill and experience who also brings a bit of emotional attachment to the club.

What's wrong with that?

No, Mccall comes from the same school of management as Mccoist.

We completely underestimated Stjarnan, the part time team of carpenters, fishermen and school teachers that knocked us out of Europe in extra time, completely scuppering our pre season, so I think we just didn't bother.

Was then complaining about fatigue by early September.

Probably a bit too easy on the players, as he wants to be everyone's mate, misplaced loyalty to experienced players, lack of imagination in the transfer market (likes guys he knows or has worked with). Can be quite negative too, worrying too much about the opposition.

I'd guess all these traits come from working under the man who needs no surname.

Well I'm pretty delighted with the appointment, and I fully expect to see six points taken by this time next week.

McCall will bring organisation, enthusiasm and a certain level of intimidation into the dressing room and I think he'll be a bit more adventurous with his team selection. He might be a Rangers man, he sat behind me on Helicopter Sunday in amongst the support, but he has taken the time to create a distance from the current squad and will be able to ensure he's not seen by the players as one of the boys.

I also assume that it reflects a more practical and frugal approach by the new board. He has a contract to the end of the season and will no doubt be under the instruction/impression that he can secure a longer contract by bringing success (in the way of a play off promotion). So a nice bit of motivation which currently doesn't exist at management level at the club.

Play off wise, if Rangers can return to decent form they should be able to challenge Hibs for the second spot, and I've no doubt he can keep us top four as a worst case scenario.

Just hope he doesn't bring back Coisty or keep McDowell hanging around.

TT
