Standing With Tories To Save Union Kills Parties

Look at the actual quote. Mountain out a molehill.

I read the quote. The SNP will share a platform with the conservatives... Against the majority of socialist parties to campaign for the UK to remain in the EU.

Wait, what?

The SNP want to stay in the EU. How is that 'against .... the campaign for the UK to remain in the EU"???

Poorly written on my part. The majority of socialist parties will campaign against continued membership, the SNP will join the Tories & Labour in campaigning for continued membership.

Who are these Socialist parties of which you speak?

So the SNP risk losing the socialist vote in the Holyrood elections, in which socialists were presumably going to vote socialist?

Ah, ok. I never realised the 'majority' of socialist parties want to leave the EU.

So which parties want to leave? The SSP? The SLP (or whatever its going to be called)?, Solidarity?

I haven't decided yet whether or not I want to remain in the EU - I haven't given it a huge amount of thought yet, my gut feeling is that I'd want to remain in, but I need to do more reading on it - which i'm sure we'll all get plenty opportunities to do over the next year or so as a referendum comes closer!

I doubt this will make any difference to the majority planning to vote SNP in 2016.

Whether we stay in or not really depends on what 'the establishment' wants. That's how it went for indyref. I'm not sure whether the establishment really knows what it wants though. Half of it (the public facing cameron conservatives) want to stay in but the other half (the more sinister proper right winger conservatives/ukipers in the background...and let's put the masons in there too) don't want to stay in.

It could go either way at this stage. What's certain though is that what we want doesn't matter.

I've no idea what the SSP want these days, they change their mind every other week. Also no idea about SLP as they've not officially formed.

Solidarity oppose, as do the Communist Parties of GB, SWP, Socialist Labour Party. Theres also a coalition of leftie parties who oppose under the No2EU Yes to Democracy banner.

I'm starting think that there might be more socialist parties than there are socialists. Have you all got one each?

Regardless of what the Torygraph says ill bet any money that there wont be any shoulder to shoulder going on with the Tories in any shape of form

However lets be pedantic

There will be a good number of the Tory party wanting to come out of Europe - will the socialists be standing shoulder to shoulder with them ....and UKIP ?

Will the Labour party be standing shoulder to shoulder with the Tories that want to stay in ?

The SNP will have their own campaign

Scunnered can put his wet wipes away on this

The Labour Party will be standing shoulder to shoulder with the SNP and the Tories. You can call it "Better Together 2.0".

You'll all be sharing the same pro business articles and studies on why austerity is pure brilliant. It'll be fun :ok:

:-))

I think the members graze between them, with each member using their chosen flavour-of-the-month socialist party to play out their revolution fantasies.

It's the SNPs job to campaign for what is best for Scotland, saying by having a similar opinion to another party is "standing with" is just pathetic.

Labour felt staying in the Union was best for Scotland. Hypocrisy

It was indeed hypocrisy. Labour thought saving the union was the best way of saving their cushy seats at Westminster (that worked out well). It was nothing to do with what they thought was best for Scotland. Those trough nuzzlers were only in it for themselves.
