  1. It's not so much that I want to be coaching his team. If he had coaches who I thought would be fair to all the kids, not put too much pressure on at 7 year old and put enjoyment over winning and performance, then I wouldn't consider moving him at all. I can see what you are saying. I think that can be a positive also. It's just getting that across to a 7 year old. Winning and performance can come later. At the moment I just want my son to enjoy football , fitness and sport in general so it hopefully he keeps it going in future. Appreciated your comments.
  2. Interesting discussion. My son is 7. Plays for a good club. But the coaches are parents who are very intense. I've heard them slagging off abilities of other kids which I think is unacceptable. They are all good players that deserve an equal amount of coaching and encouragement. I played semi proffesional from 18 to 35, and have my children's coaching badge. So I feel I could use the experience I have to help the kids starting out in football. But my experience so far is of parents who want to take the teams to give their own kids every advantage. I've now been approached by another club who would like me to get involved. But it would mean having to move my son from a strong team to a lesser one for the beginning at least. Which although I think it would hopefully benefit him in the long run, he might not understand why I had moved him teams. Decisions.... There is a lot of desperation from parents already about their kids getting signed up for professional clubs which doesn't help either.
  3. Noticed this as well. And remembered about the previous times. I've backed Fletcher in the past. But think I've had enough now. Not that I think anyone is capable of doing any better.
  4. Ok good point. Did a search and didn't see as much negativity as I thought I would. But I'm sure I've seen a few things in the past. Should have maybe put it across that we should be hoping Grant can continue to develop, as he could be a a big player for us. I read a bit online with the Blackburn boss saying people expect him to be a future Scotland captain.
  5. I'm always surprised how people write off Grant Hanley as a prospect for the future. The guy is 23 years old and captain of a Championship side. He has got so much learning ahead of him. And especially as a centre half, experience in that position is vital. 17 Caps already. And Starchan also seems to rate him. Hopefully he can keep progressing.
  6. Just noticed watching the highlights on ITV, that the header on goal that lead to the corner that Ireland scored from was also a yard offside. Shocking from the assistant referee.
  7. This game came at the wrong time for us. I was worried after the Ireland game that it would have taken too much out of us mentally and physically. England are technically better. And we didn't have enough energy to compete at our best. We need to forget this one quickly and give everything to make sure of no slip up vs Gibraltar.
  8. Which area of the stadium are the official Irish fans going to be in?
  9. Did the queue eventually end taking you to the page to buy the tickets
  10. No I was in the Main Stand Club Deck. It wasn't too busy where we were. And the toilets seemed fine in there.First time I have been to Ibrox, so can't comment on any other part of the stadium. But I'm looking forward to getting back to Hampden.
  11. As much as Hampden could be designed a lot better to create an intimidating atmosphere. I do feel more at home there. And wish the next few homes games were there. Can anyone confirm when we do start playing at Hampden again?
  12. Agreed. What a find. I think we should be quite excited about Hanley also. The guy is 22 years old, which I think gets forgotten. Centre half don't reach their peak until late 20's. And he's doing pretty well already at 15 caps.
  13. Firstly, when it comes to supporting Scotland. I wouldn't let the recent politics get in the way of my support. The success of the team is too important to me. I will sing the National Anthem as proudly as ever & give the players my full support whenever they take the field. However, I've been very disappointed in recent years and even more so now at the way the recent campaigns have been allowed to become less and less exciting and particularly how we have not made every effort to give ourselves the best possible chance of success and ultimately qualification to major tournaments. Our main asset is our fans. In order to give ourselves an advantage we need a full, loud and intimidating Hampden. The SFA's priority should been making sure this happens. And I just can't get my head around why this isn't the case. I realise there were reasons why we weren't at Hampden on Saturday. And as much as Ibrox is possibly a better stadium than Hampden. It just didn't feel like our home. The last time we had decent success was the France, Italy & Ukraine group. And as far as I remember it was a full Hampden, with brilliant atmosphere. Which inspired the team to some very good performances. This ensured the SSC was full, which must have taken in plenty money for the SFA. Surely this is a better business plan.......... Do everything in your power to give the team a chance of success and qualification. Fill the stadium with sensible pricing based on the standard of opposition. Listen to the fans with regards to what they want pre match to get the stadium rocking for match ahead. We are lucky to have such a passionate support to help the team in groups where we are maybe not the best team. But with the backing we can provide to the team we have proved we can match anyone. It's shocking to read people are starting to lose faith at a time where we have big games ahead and a manager and team to be proud of. And in my mind this is down to the SFA's "money first" policy. And it can't be allowed to happen.
  14. Thanks. Had a look at The Swallow Hotel. But think its already booked up. Will have a look at Springfield Quay. And check the distance from Ibrox.
