Big Bill
Anyone been to Lodz? If so, is it worth a look as I've time to kill in Warsaw en route to Tbilisi. I've been to Warsaw a couple of times so I'm looking for somewhere new to see.
deecie
If there's one thing I learned in Kaunas is that it's pronounced 'Woods'. And the slogan 'You would in Lodz' is pish.
fanatyk
There are nicer cities in Poland than Łódź TBH, but this city also has it`s quality parts. If you like places with rich industrial heritage (+ Jewish) than you will find plenty to see there. Depends really on how much time you have. Journey time for Łódź from Warsaw is 2-2,5h by train. For the same travel time you can go to Lublin, which is a real unpolished and still undiscovered gem among Polish cities with fantastic history, 5 universities and great old-town. (Wizz starts regular flights there from Glasgow Intl. from September BTW). In similar journey timeframe you can also go to Poznań or Białystok for example. fanatyk
PS. 3 out of 4 letters in word "Łódź" are typical Polish vowels (plus one consonant). There is no way any foreigner can pronunce it right ha ha. "Woods" is close enough though

peever1745
Woodje I spent 3 weeks working in Pabianice so visited Lodz quite a few times.Great pubs and night life.Best place is Manufacturer in the centre of town. Its an old mill converted into a retail park with cinema, shops, eateries and bars. There are 2 football teams there. I follow Widsew Lodz (Vidzev ) now in the lower leagues.Widzew were a big team in Europe back in the 80s. The other team is LKS. Widsew has a club shop in the ground that is open everyday also an Ultras shop next to the ground.I would love to go back there some day. peever1745
If you have the time go visit Lublin, its the Krakow of the south. Its an old walled town with a larg Jewish quarter and full of history. If I remember correctly King Jan Sobieski stopped the Ottomans move west at Lublin.King Jan was Charles Edwards grandfather or great grandfather. McTeeko
Currently in Sopot, spent the day earlier in Gdansk and then after a couple of days on the fantastic Sopot beach we'll visit Gdynia. Then heading south by car to Pinczow to see the wife's family for the festival there this weekend. After that we're heading to Kraków where my daughter is flying out to join us as she really wants to see Auschwitz with us ?? Plenty beer and cabbage consumed but no yet tried the vodka!
