You want a government to take my house from me?

Would be great no? They could give everyone 100k for their house. That way you get 100k for your 100k house (pile of bricks and cables) and Dave the banker Porsche driver gets 100k for his '700k' pile of bricks and cables. Reset.

so finally - a poor, disgruntled, pensioner who was cruelly taken advantage of by 'Cruella' Michelle Thomson was just interviewed live on STV news. I am so outraged by how this poor woman was taken advantage of, I still have tears in my eyes thinking of the plight of poor pensioner Jackie from Cumbernauld...

- Jackie bought her council house for £20k

- she only made a profit of 155% when sold through Thomsons property company

- she signed a document giving permission that it be marketed and sold on

- she signed specifically a letter saying she understood that her share of the sale would be £51k & M&F would keep any excess

- the sale 'helped her get out of it'

- she helpfully added that Michelle was a 'bitch'

- Bernard Ponsonby added in a cruel blow to Michelle that 'there is no suggestion of any illegal behaviour in Ms Thomson's part"

I don't know how Michelle sleeps at night, clearly 155% profit for your client is simply not good enough.......

you are clearly only on here on the wind up - I am not going to call you names back. I am guessing you didn't see the news and don't care anyway about anything other than gossip and hearsay... or maybe you're the12 year old child of a bitter SNP hating former Labour MP let loose on the iPad. Give it back before you get him in trouble.

Definitely typical Tartan Tory. I'd like to think you're in the minority of SNP supporters but it's not my experience.

Please don't breed.

Yip on both

Is this Thomson lassie one these kents that prays on people's financial situations to make a quick buck??? If so then anybody defending her is either a ####in moron or the type of person who would shoot both their parents to go to an orphans day out.

I say this as someone who had two mortgages for 13 months.Financially and emotionally it was the most draining time of my life and everyday I would get flyers through the door from companies offering me well below market value for a quick sale.

This is getting very petty, and the name-calling and point scoring is not doing anyone any credit. Deep breath.......step away from the keyboard for an hour

I don't think stepping away for an hour will change the fact UPROAR is a horrible .

I'm having a wee chuckle but if you think buying a house from someone who took it from the council for £20 grand and sold it for £51 grand and then whines about it even though no-one else wanted to buy is 'exploitation' then I think you must all be on drugs...

the only people being exploited in that deal is the taxpayer who paid to get the council house built and people waiting in the queue for a council house but hey ho....

All property is theft!

I look forward to an independent Scotland where private property is outlawed, capitalism is immoral, and we all work for the state in forced labour camps.

Scunnered will be FM, naturally :wink2:

I havent read too much into this so cant comment in the specifics. But as an aside investment property ownership is huge in Australia. And by and large it is seen as a good thing.

Sure rich types get involved but many people in regular jobs, shop workers, cab drivers, hairdressers and the like often have 1 or more buy to lets. In many cases the passive income has ended up replacing their jobs wages and giving them financial freedom eay before retirement age.

Granted there is more of a market to rent here as it is considerably cheaper than mortgage but to see working class people do well by just taking a bit of a chance I find good.

I think Australia is going to experience one of the biggest property crashes of all time. The bubble is going to burst.

Doubt anybody would disagree with the last part, but wealthy ex-banker buying 20 properties doesn't really fall into that category.

And how do you expect the working class folk who are renting the houses to retire when they can now no longer buy one house never mind >2?

I love the mind set of "screw the bankers" while trying your hardest to emulate their behaviour.

The reporting in the media of this has been pretty pish poor. You would have thought that by now some investigative journalist would have been able to do some digging and find out what she has actually been up to. So far there has just been loads of innuendo suggesting that she has been up to something dodgy. It sounds dodgy to me as well. But this story has been going for a wee while now and they are still not telling us what she has done wrong.

The total case on STV last night was one woman who, appeared to me, to be perfectly capable of looking after herself. IMO she was neither weak nor poor and certainly seemed to have her wits about her. She was unhappy that this wifie Thomson had made a load of money of her. She had been trying to sell her house but couldn't get anybody to buy it. Some company ( I assume Thomson was involved with this company, although STV didn't didn't explain in what way). The deal was that they would sell her house for her and she would get 51K. Anything that they could get above that was their cut. She agreed to that deal. She only got annoyed when she found out that this company (and presumably Thomson) made 24K on the deal. At the end of the interview she said "Ach I suppose it's no that bad I only paid 21K for the house in the first place".

Now, I'm guessing that their must be more to this than what was reported but you would think STV should be trying to dig deeper and finding out what the full story is? But they just can't seem to be bothered or maybe there just isn't a story.

Are they really trying to tell us that estate agents, car salesmen, share dealers, shop owners, anybody who makes a profit from buying and selling, shouldn't be allowed to be MPs?
