rabmania
Is lovely, far enough from Marmaris, but close enough for visit to bazaar etc.
Pool Q
I went to Icmeler on holiday a few years back. Nice wee place, quiet with lovely if quite busy beaches. As Rab says far enough away from Marmaris which is a bit of a hole in my view, although the castle and marina were pleasant enough for a stroll around after a boat trip across the bay. Bazaar is best avoided in my opinion, but my wife seemed to enjoy it. The bars and restaurants are very much geared up towards Brits, with Sky Sports etc. very much in evidence. Don't think I've ever been anywhere with such a high proportion of Scots in amongst the tourists, many of whom seemed to be on their umpteenth trip to the place. Ideal spot for a young family I'd have said. When I was there most of the tourists were 40+, certainly not groups of young lads out on the lash. The boat trips are well worth doing. Bristolhibby
Went on a boat trip from Marmaris to Iclemar a few years ago with my wife and kids. Much quieter and smaller than Marmaris. Our boys were pretty wee, so even though it was quieter, we still didn't do much at night. Would recommend it. J

Graham of Montrose
Icmeler is lovely wee place. Marmaris is much more, tacky but close enough to visit. The castles and marina area are lovely. You can get a water taxi from Icmeler beach to very close to the marina for a few lira. Another cheap trip worth doing is a water taxi in the opposite direction to the next village along, Turunc. A very unspoiled wee village but get the bus or Dolmus back. You go high into the mountains and the road snakes around hairpin bends. You get fantastic views along the coast. Scary but worth it just for the experience.
