surley tuition fees are staying free anyway? Have i missed something or is this cuddly bunny rabbit really losing the plot?

You've not missed anything.

Jim Murphy is campaigning for something that we already have, in an election for the UK parliament, when education is devolved to the Scottish parliament.

The line being spouted by deputy dug and their acolytes is that the Scottish Government can't be trusted with the universities. Basically what they're doing is continuing with their "Education Standards Are Slipping" angle, but in the public eyes it's always been seen as a return of Labour to Holyrood would be a return of tuition fees, this is their idea of addressing this. They've just went about it in typical Scottish Labour comedy fashion.

Murphy's patronising, snake oil salesmen way gives him a sense of composure, and he's allowed to get away with it eg speaking to Emily Maitliss (or Sarah Smith?) recently he steadfastly refused to answer any of the questions she put to him and she just accepted it.

Has he any history of losing the heid when put under pressure. Just wish some interviewed would go after him on his past record on tuition fees, both as a student leader and as an MP? I wonder how he'd have been in a head to head with Salmond?

Any thoughts on how to rattle him - he's #1 on my list for a celebratory popcorn moment on GE night - I would love it, just love it.............

He's number 2 just behind Curran from me, but I reckon you're out of luck on the Jimbo front if what I hear about local canvassing is correct.

Swap his can of Irn Bru for a can of warm pish, that ought to rattle him. :)

Incidentally, I have it on good authority that for a long time he refused to be interviewed on Good Morning Scotland because they once asked him a difficult question (or a question he didn't like, anyway). It might explain why we only tend to see him interviewed in less hostile climbs, like Scotland 2015.

And it's a policy that Murphy has always strongly opposed except when he was spending 9 years at University playing politics, eventually leaving without a degree to his name.

If Labour get wiped out in Glasgow (now a possibility apparently) and Jim is the only one that scrapes through, that's EXCELLENT news for the Jim PR team and the newspapers they have in their pockets. Last man standing. Hero of the hour. Flying the flag for Labour against this vile wave of nazi nationalists.

He'll be banking on his canvassers doing better than my MP's:

'Knock knock'

Me: Yes?

SL canvasser: I'm here to secure your support for Mr McClymmont (sp?) in the upcoming GE ..

Me: I have no intention of voting for Mr McClymmont

[abruptly cut off at this point]

SL canvasser: Oh, you don't? That's fine, sorry for bothering you.

Standard practice to be fair. SNP canvassers are instructed to do the same, if it's a point blank refusal don't waste time, move on.

What's the point then?

To get to the swayers, there's no point in standing talking to someone on the doors whose mind is already completely made up. Activists are few and far between for all parties and there's a lot of doors.

Fair enough but a few seconds more and she could have found out my voting intentions - shouldn't make assumptions :D
