After discussing your above proposal with my other half, the much esteemed Mrs Auldgit, has decided that she wants an upgrade to 1st class.

Is Mrs Auldgit aware that she'll be lowering her very high standards by sitting near to Mr Flure - However, Lady Flure's company might make up for this unfortunate set of circumstances

Unfortunatley for me, the esteemed Mrs Auldgit, holds Lord and Lady Flure in very high regard, in fact, much higher than she holds me.

Naw. Surely naw.

Yes, it is sad but true, the esteemed Mrs Auldgit would rather sit in luxuary, and sip cocktails with the equally esteemed Lord and Lady Flure, than put up with a drunken hairy ersed baboon like me, snooring his head off on the wing.

Georgia Refund Form.docx (14.1 KB)

It is with regret that we advise that the proposed WESTA charter flight to Georgia will NOT be going ahead.

We sincerely appreciate the frustration that this will cause - we feel it ourselves. This decision has been made on the basis that we feel that it is just bluntly too expensive.

Many months ago we started exploring the possibility of chartering an aircraft for this game. We engaged the services of a highly reputable brokerage firm based at Gatwick Airport. We had used them in the past and they are responsible for securing aircraft for a number of Champions League teams and their fans. They are the largest brokerage in the UK. An indicative cost of £489 was provided along with the proviso that it would be January 2015 before both availability and actual cost would be known.

In December 2014 we were made aware that aircraft were available. We were also given some costs. These costs were somewhat higher than the originally indicated cost. The decision was taken to hold off to allow other airlines to quote, to see if they could come closer to the originally proposed price. The other quotes have come in – more expensive than previous quotes and significantly more than we would be willing to pay. During this time, the previous availability has gone, with the aircraft being used for new scheduled routes.

Therefore, we have taken the decision to cancel our plans. We do so recognising that there are still over eight months until the match. On a quick examination this morning, there are a number of scheduled flight routes and options available at a cost less than our original proposed charter flight.

Like you we would have preferred the ease of a direct charter flight, however, we tried and it didn’t come off…what can we say? Sorry! And thanks for allowing us the opportunity to try to charter a flight.

All those who have paid a deposit (or additional payments) are of course due a full refund. This, as you can imagine, is the worst nightmare for our Treasurer. To assist, please find attached a ‘Refund Form’. We would be grateful if you could complete this and return it as soon as possible. It is intended that refunds will be made electronically, although it may be that some cheques could be forwarded for ease. WESTA members who may wish alternative payment methods can speak with the Treasurer at a meeting.

Please confine all communications to this email address.

Thanks for your understanding.

Jim Brown (Chairman – WESTA)

John Daly (Vice-Chairman WESTA)

Me and a few other solo travellers - well we all started solo.. I will ask around what the plans are (pretty sure some were on charter also).

I'm in Portsmouth but don't mind travelling to Glasgow first as I want to be up there for the Germany game.
