Well, I consider myself spoiled. As a middle aged khunt I had the privilege of my first Scotland game being the 2-1,defeat of Czechoslovakia in 1973. Jordan - that goal. The crowd. The atmosphere. It's NEVER been so good again (IMO).

The following 20 or so years gave me the impression that Scotland would always be there - that we were a good (even great) team. The 20 years after that showed otherwise.

It's the hope that kills us.

Qatar? Seriously? FFS!

Scotland 4 Portugal 1

March 1980 I was ten.

Memories were looking through that big metal fence to see the game, two guys squaring up over a cheese roll - the expression "whit the f##k dae ye want fur 10p" and Davie Provan coming on and playing well.

I don't actually know.

It was at pittodrie, against East Germany (I think)

My memory says we scored in the last minute to win it 4-3?

Guy called John Lindsay?

U-19's?

But I also think this is a load of shite that's been ingrained in my head since a wee lad.

What I am certain of is that we were down at the lads club pitches watching a cup final them we were told that we were heading to watch Scotland afterwards.

As I say,it may be all made up in my head, but I'm 99% sure it was certainley East Germany.

If anyone can tell me I'm talking pish and what actually happened, you would help a lot with a childhood memory(if you can call it that)

1st full international was v Norway,Faddy sent aff.

Germany 2-1 Scotland

2003

22

I was a late comer to Scotland games.

J

Not as late as me. As an East Coast boy my Dad's focus was on taking me to Tannadice. Scotland games were always midweek on the other side of the country so it never happened.

First game was the 1-0 win v Greece where McCoist scored which I think qualified us for Euro 96, I would've been 24.

By contrast my eldest son is ten now and hasn't missed a game at Hampden since 2008. Helps that we live five miles away right enough.

Think the under-21s beat proper Germany 4-3 at Pittodrie in the early 90s - Big Dunc ripping the Germans a new one. What a waste, the thick .

First game at all seater Hampden, against Holland, we lost 1-0, I think it was March 94 so I was 13.

It was the 2nd last game I saw while living in Scotland. The last was Stirling Albion

Scotland 0 England 1 1978 at Hampden (aged 12). Absolutely hated it - Hampden was such a dump, with rivers of puke and piss rolling down the terraces.

From what i remember of the game England deserved to win - and yet everyone didnt seem that bothered. We were going to world cup, they weren't.

A game (and that entire home internationals) that should have been a wake-up call about our confidence going into that world cup wasn't recognised as such.
